Things We Need For The K-1 Interview

Anyone know the difference between waiting outside the Consulate in the bitter cold for 2 hours for it to open so that you can be first in line . . .

And waiting inside the Consulate for 2 hours in the warmth because you weren't first in line?

Just sayin'

Honestly, I'd rather wait in the bitter cold for a couple of hours and be out of there by ten.

Ben might feel differently... but, heh... he won't know of the option.

I'm just saying if you get there at 6:00am and get out of there by 9:30 that's 3.5 hours. If you get there by 7:30am and get out of there by 11:00am, that's the same 3.5 hours, just 30 minutes of which is outside in the cold instead of 2 hours outside in the cold.

I'm bringing a book either way.

for people driving home right after though, the difference of leaving for home at 10:30, vs 12 (giving time to run back to the hotel and check out and all that jazz), makes a difference of getting back home after a 8-9 hr drive at like, 7:30pm vs 9pm... which doesn't seem like a big deal, but really, I'd rather get home asap. Also, I pretty much hate waiting and really want to get it over and done with. We're Canadians... if we can't handle the damn cold weather we should shut up and move... oh wait, that's what we're trying to do here...

LOL :P

Yeah, I see what you're saying. I guess, for me, it's much like the medical. Sure, if you show up late, you're waiting inside in the warmth... but you're waiting through whatever backlog there was found during however many folks showed up early.

Less people in front of you, less chances for further delay. *shrug* I also enjoy being super early to most things, to a fault.

I agree on that as well. I'd rather not have to deal with the backlog of all the people getting there before me. Like at the medical, when I started it there was me and one other person in the waiting room. When I left, the waiting room was PACKED. All in a difference of an hour and a 1/2. I can't imagine how much waiting would've been involved if I had gone to the medical at 8am instead of 6:15ish. I had time to drive back home AND go back to work in the afternoon! LOL

Well we are staying for 2 days in Montreal. The only thing we have to be back for is New Moon at 7:15pm in Montreal . . . We'll be waiting in line for that too no doubt.

I am NOT Canadian. I will freeze my a$$ off, so I am thinking of just showing up at 7:30am.

So no worries about having to beat me there for the early folks. :star:

I think I'd have a hard time convincing Sean about being early. He showed up at 8am for his medical and was in and out.

Ok, maybe I'll be there at 7am.

You might want to be at the consulate before 7am.

When I was there the line was HUGE at 7am. I suggest 6:45 if you want to get near the front of the line.

I felt awful for the people at the medical. I was there by 530, but lazed around at Starbucks until quarter after 6, so I was second in line. Only the first three of us were given waiting rooms.. everyone else sat in the main room until we were out/completed.

I am still waiting for Sean's police check. He picked up his medical on Thursday and his police check is due on Wednesday.

It's standing out in the cold! I think I might die! I don't own any ear muffs, hats, toques- whatever you call those things!!! I dont' even have a pair of gloves or a scarf

Yeah, Ben doesn't seem to be too concerned about the cold. He thinks his Florida rear end is going to be fiiiiine in the cold. Heh.

(So I'm hiding one of my dad's winter jackets in the trunk... Shh...)

Heck, I'm kicking myself now that I didn't call Dr. Seiden's on Friday to see if my medical was absolutely ready. I wish I had. I hate not knowing. Meanwhile, after I ordered Ben's tax transcripts, he neglected to tell me they came in the mail... so three weeks had passed and I was all concerned when he finally told me.

I wish I could be so nonchalant. Maybe some of that will rub off on me. Maybe. Heh.

Men!

P.S. His Florida a$$ will freeze to death. I lived in Minnesota for 10 years growing up. Within a few years of moving to Florida I could no longer tolerate the cold. Last week it was 60 degrees in the morning and everyone was wearing winter-type jackets and complaining of the cold . . .

When I was in Toronto in February it was 32 degrees. It was sooo cold I could hardly stand it!

He's originally from Ohio, so he used to know cold.. but he's forgetting that he got real sick (the only time he got sick all year) after the last time he visited me here in February. He thinks his hoodie will do him fine. Harumph. We shall see.

Truth be told, I don't have a decent winter coat either... so I'm stealing my sister's coat for a couple of days. I didn't feel the need to buy a winter coat when I was only planning on being in town for half of the winter season.
