Actually, I'm content right now. Once tonight/tomorrow is over with, I get to look forward to seeing Ben and being in beautiful Montreal.

If I focus on that, I'm fine.

But I'm usually the kind that frets like mad over job interviews and the like... so, paranoid is normal for me. I'm actually doing exceptionally well, haha.

Its probably best for you to determine if you have completed all the vaccinations you are required to. This website gives you a list of those requirements:

http://www.panelphysicians.com/Pages/Immunizations.htm

Some vaccines need to be completed and they can't all be administered at the same time (ie. theres a waiting period before you can get the second shot, etc. and you need to finish the series before they will mark off your sheet). Gardasil is one you just need to start the first shot. And for chickenpox, you just need an oral confirmation that youve had chickenpox as a kid, if you did.

I would suggest to go through your vaccine records and mark off those that are in the list -- and if you need to get some, get them before the medical.

Also, you need P3 or P4 to get a schedule for the medical and to get in the building -- they will look at it and confirm that you are applying for whatever visa youre applying.

If you have pre-existing medical conditions, are taking any medications, etc, you need to bring them/documentation for them. I wear glasses/contacts so I brought my unused contact lens boxes and a copy of my prescription.

Goodluck!

Thanks, I have got my P3 and I'm hoping I'll get my P4 before the appointment. I haven't got any pre-existing medical conditions but I haven't had the gardasil shot. I would really rather not get it and when I was on the phone with the receptionist she told me that it was only required for the AOS phase of a K1. I might be 27 by that time so I might not have to. But I was wondering if anyone had been told by the actual doctor that it was necessary and maybe had it done at the medical appointment?

The receptionist at Toronto specifically told me I had to have my first shot done before the medical, else the doc wouldn't sign off on the form.

That's interesting news... I read from the forum that other countries will allow the fiancees to skip Gardasil, but I read somewhere here that Montreal requires you to have all the shots necessary for your age group. I know for a fact that not EVERY shot needs to be completed (or started) to get the K1 visa in other embassies, except in Montreal.

Finally married... and still married... ;)

The canadian consulate requires all your vaccinations to be up to date before they will sign off as far as I know (cept maybe the DTP if your time hasnt come up yet? Dunno, the dr reminded me to get it next year cuz I'm due again for it) but they will require you to have the first gardasil shot before they release your medical.

One more moment of panic. I modeled my I-134 after the example form here on VJ.

For question 11 the VJ example says "N/A ( K1 visa process for permanent residence )."

Is that what you all put? Or did you list the ways you would support the beneficiary?

Did you check the "intend" box if you used the "N/A" answer?

The example doesn't have either box checked, since the answer is "N/A."

Apologize for the double post, but I can't seem to edit my own to add anymore..

I'm now worried about our supporting evidence for the I-134. I mean, common sense, to me, says that all of my concerns are silly... but still. It's the one thing I'm worried about.

  • Ben does clear the poverty line, about 15k over (he would be much higher, if it weren't for frozen wages). He pay stubs show this.
  • His employment letter only stages his hourly wage, because the woman in HR didn't follow my template that called for approximate yearly income. She didn't even think to put full-time status, so it states his wage and that he has a permanent position. Lovely. This is why I'm bringing the pay stubs.
  • His tax transcripts show a steady increase in income each year (bringing all three), so it's not like they reiterate the income we're claiming on the Affidavit, they only show that he keeps making more money (which is a good thing, right).
  • I wasn't going to bring a bank statement, as it shows that he's got very little in his account... though it does show deposits to reiterate the pay stubs each week. Should I bring this, or will they be concerned that there isn't much money sitting in the account? I'm the saver... suppose I could bring my own bank statement to say "we have money, I swear"?

I'm panicking over all of this now, because I always figured that stuff would be handed over in the interview itself, not to the receptionist/paper lady. I thought we'd have a chance to explain it all, instead of just handing it over and letting them figure it all out.

Or maybe I'm just panicking for no reason, heh. But either way...

You're EXACTLY like me. Matt makes enough money, but there's not a whole lot in his accounts. I'm the one with some $$. I was thinking about getting some of my own financial statements to bring( a lot of it is already in US$$). I don't know if that would help, but I'm bringing it just incase.

I'll probably hold onto it & hand it over if they have issues with his papers. I'm hoping they find his statements suitable.

Hey guys. Well truth be told, I don't ever have much in my bank either, so I am just bringing my last 3 years of W2s, last 3 years of tax transcripts, letter from employer, copy of my teaching contract (it states my salary), copy of my teaching certification, and last 6 months of pay stubs.

My annual salary is $45,000. I also get $700 a month in child support from my ex, so I make $53,400 a year. But I am a single mom of two kids so with all of my expenses there's not much in my bank account.

I am only showing them my salary information- I am not even including my child support. For a family of 4, which is what we'll be, I am supposed to make $27k to be at the 125%, so at $45k I am almost $20k over it.

Sean has quite a bit saved up of his money- but since he is the beneficiary that doesn't mean squat.

I am sure I'll be fine with all of the proof of my income. Someone made a good post about the bank stuff. This guy said his money is spread out into different accounts, he said the US Consulate Officers are not financial advisors, they do not look at our credit scores or our debt to income ratio. All they want to see is that we make enough above the 125% to qualify.

The bank info is an option that more focuses itself on people who are self employed, as they may need to show their assets, or for people who don't meet the poverty limit with their income and need to use assets in the bank. If he is over the 125% without needing to use assets or anything you don't need to bring any bank info. As Arabella stated, they just want to make sure that the limit is met. If you have a few paystubs it should support the letter and tax info just fine.

From the VJ Guides:

I-134 Affidavit of Support form. Ensure it is signed, with all required supporting evidence. Begin collecting the required information ahead of time, as it can often take several weeks to collect it all.

You will likely need at a minimum (for the above form) two to three of your most recent pay stubs and a signed letter from your employer listing your job title, start date, your salary, and the status (full-time) of your position. Begin collecting these ASAP after your NOA2 arrives. You will also probably want to include other evidence such as your banking information and other assets as required by the I-134. Specifically you will need at least 2 of the 4 options mentioned in Section II-Supporting Evidence of the I-134. See this FAQ for more tips and ueful information on the Affidavit of Support Form.
