I just want to know if anyone has entered the US after mailing the packet 3 to the Montreal consulate. I intend to visit my fiance for Christmas I would like to know the experience of others at the POE. What kind of questions were tossed and how did you answer them ?

Any answers would be highly appreciated.

Yep, I even asked the border guard if he wanted Candy :P

I've crossed a bunch of times after P3....nothing different than the usual questions.

I always keep my documents from the whole visa process with me so that I can show them I'm going legit..never been asked to see them(so far).

8/2/2021:  Mailed N-400

8/4/2021: N-400 received

8/6/2021:  Biometrics to be reused
3/15/2022:  Interview (successful)

You shouldn't have any problems. Any additional documents you might have that show where you are in the visa journey is an added bonus. Don't forget, like any other visits, you must have evidence of ties to Canada. Enjoy your visit!

I went to visit with my packet 3, had my husband (then fiance) fill out the forms with me and mailed it from the US. Does that count? I wasn't asked much at the border. They were pretty routine questions like, how long are you staying, how did you meet, etc. But, like Carla said, as always be prepared with evidence of a return. Its just like any other trip you've taken during the process.

As other have stated, many have with no probs! BUT it all comes down to the POE officer. They all seem to interpret the rules differently. See below for my free advice.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

There are so many of us who have entered the US in the midst of the process at all stages. Some even after the visa was issued and in our passports. Almost all of us have had no problems whatsoever. It's simply a matter of being prepared with your ties, being aware that there are no guarantees, and accepting of the fact that you may not get in and to have a backup plan.

Hi

I'm going to visit too for 2 weeks in November and my interview is on November 25th. My fiance will come back with me for the interview.

I have a problem I don`t have a lot ties to Canada...I just came back from a work contract in Caribbean ...I`m living at my parents' home since it`s no sense to get an appart. and furnishing if I'm going to move soon...I'm not working either....I have a Canadian bank account, cell phone bills, 2 daughters living in Canada, that`s it....

I was thinking to bring all my paperworks, including interview letter, my return ticket and his ticket to come with me in Montreal and tell the truth to the POE officer...

I think if they see that we are going thru the legal process and we are so close to the interview why they should denie me the entry ...of course it`s always risky...but I don`t expect to enter USA before Christmas so I want to go to visit him...he wants my input for a new house too so it`s better if I'm visiting than him visiting me this time...

What do you think? Should I bring something else?

Thanks a million
