we got our 2nd NOA on saturday and my wifes biometrics are going to be on 12 JAN 10.

GC expires on Mar 20. We can send the I-751 now, But I am thinking that it may be better to wait until Jan 2, 2010. I do not want anything lost in the Xmas shuffle. And, everyone will be back on Jan 2 from their holidays.

I already had a card with a cash card disappear in the mail.

So, what does everyone think?

Why would it be any different then usual - so they're off a few days. Use a USPS option which requires a signature and has a tracking number - we personally always overnight mail to them because it's important that it gets there safely - why take a chance? Gov't offices aren't closed for the entire 2 weeks.

If I were in your position, I would do exactly what you said - wait until this holiday mess passes. As long as you file and they receive it in the 90-day window, then you should be OK.

That's odd, but I think you will be ok. That weekend is Thanksgiving, so I don't expect anyone to work and then most probably they received your application, and processed it and some banks take longer to clear checks so I would expect to at least see some activity in your bank account by the end of this week.
You also might have some turkey gravy spilled all over your NOA, but it will still be valid.

USCIS sent back my package and I received it on Dec 18. As per the NOA, the reason for returning: the amount on the check is incorrect or it was not signed. I checked the cheque and the applications but I signed everything. I have a USC baby (6months old), which I listed in the Part 5 of I-751, I put USC on the US address and N/A on the A#. I did that as this is what others who have US born babies have done and they didnt have any problem with the processing. I even attached a copy of my baby's birth certificate. Looks like the USCIS rep who handles my ROC application didnt read it through the application and my cover letter as I explained it in the letter.

I sent in $705 dollars ($465 + $80 biometrics for me and $160 for biometrics for my 2 K-2 daughters). I revised the I-751 and deleted my baby's name on it and resubmitting the entire package again tomorrow. Hmmm, hopefully, they will not mess up again.

I've seen people who write the correct amount, but the number is not correct. I looked at the form and it says A# (if any) so I think what you did the first time is correct. I suggest you wait and see what others recommend before you send it out again - you don't want to get into trouble if they claim you falsified your form. A lot of people have children here and they are, of course, USCs so I don't see that being the problem.

Let's see what others who have done this will say.
