my experience;

I walked in with very strong sentence in mind and approached the counter (the security) with the letter on my hand, she reached the letter when I stated to talk;

Weird part; While i was getting my fingerprint done I asked the guy if I can get my last name changed. He told me that I can get it done by his supervisor approval at the facility or during the interview. I said I don't think I-751's get interview very often. He said "ma'm your card is conditional and you will get interview to make sure you are still together, it is for all I-751's" I said o.k , it makes my last name change easier then....

So when shoudl I expect the interview letter?

Early bio done today!!!

my experience;

So when shoudl I expect the interview letter?

Are you wanting to legally change your last name or did they misspell you name?

If you want to change your last name, and you are going to apply for citizenship, then I recommend waiting until you apply for citizenship and change it in the N-400 form. If you do it now, then you have to do a lot of work getting you name changed with USCIS and when you apply for citizenship, you have to provide more information (name change, date, blah blah blah). Then, when you go to Social Security office, then you can notify them of your status change and name change, including other offices that you have to visit after citizenship.

I wanted to have his last name and we tought changing my national passport was going to be easier. It wasn't! My passport has my maiden name, My green card has my married name. It is simply nightmare when I apply for visa in Europe or travel back to U.S. Oh well I will try my consulate one more time I guess....

Although you are going to get a lot of headache doing this, it seems better to change your last name in your passport and not the Green Card.

Then USCIS will start asking a lot of questions....

BTW I changed my user name from ebruli to candelari.... My life has less confusion with USCIS and what nots I needed to add one more. I still can not figure out how to make it "rich text" to fix the list by myself... I started to feel special need person....

When you reply or post a comment, if you can edit the text to bold, underlined, etc... then you have rich text.

Just follow the instructions are the bottom of the list and you will be good to go

FYI, my passport has my maiden name and green card has my married name too.

I went to Japan with these last December and it was no problem at all.

I brought my marriage certificate just make sure, but they didn't ask me to show them!
