Senator kicks butte!

For the 3rd time thruout the 3+ year process I turned to our senator for help.

I'd filed the N-400 October 16th for my wife and up to last friday she hadn't received a biometrics appointment.

USCIS is "normally" sending out biometric appointments with 30 days of the NOA1 these days.

At first I called USCIS and they did a service request. They said if we didn't hear from them in 45 days to call again. We'd been thru that trip before with the I-751 without success and

so I said the heck with it and I called our senator's immigration specialist whom I dealt with before Friday and she said she would call NBC [National Benefits Center] and check on it.

We didn't get any appointment letter or email notification but she{immigration specialist for Senator Inouye} called back today and gave me the biometric appointment date!!!

Obviously Inouye obviously has some "clout" and he also has my vote.

Senators and congressman may not be able to expedite but "some" of them sure can fix USCIS's screw ups and get things moving again.

Not all representatives are this good tho.

I'd called a congressman years ago and his staff was WORTHLESS.

Edit Update!

I just received a RFE. I'm pretty sure it's not a RFE but only a automated response for the biometric appointment letter.

USCIS keeps you guessing right down to the Oath ceremony.

Application Type: N400 , APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION

Current Status: Request for Additional Evidence Sent

On October 26, 2009, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence or information in this case N400 APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the requested information. This case will be in suspense until we receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once we receive the requested evidence or information and make a decision on the case, you will be notified by mail. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

Online case update moved from "Initial Review" to "Request for evidence".

Anyone get the same reaction with the new notification website?

Another update.

OOPs! Just got another email from CRIS stating they send the biometrics appointment letter.

Hard to say but this may have been a response to the service request I made and not because of my senators actions.

Doesn't matter tho as at least things are moving again.

Hopefully we won't have to do the same for the interview and oath .

Here in Hawaii they do the interview and oath on the same day for outer islands people. Saves air fare. You also get the Certificate right after the oath ceremony.

Wife will make 3 copies, put them in the I-130 packages for her mom, brothers and sisters and mail them!!

Just finish up one process and start all over with 3 more!!!

I guess I won't be able to find out what it's like without USCIS "hanging around".

Sen. Inouye commands respect in government. He has a very effective staff and his politics are right in any environment.
