The "Free" Cell Phone

Oh good, another waste of my tax dollars!!!!!!!!!

I (not *I*, Kaydee)had a former employee call me earlier today inquiring about a job, and at the end of the conversation he gave me his phone number. I asked the former employee if this was a new cell phone number and he told me yes this was his "Obama phone." I asked him what an "Obama phone" was and he went on to say that welfare recipients are now eligible to receive

(1) a FREE new phone and

(2) approx 70 minutes of FREE minutes every month.

I was a little skeptical so I Googled it and low and behold he was telling the truth. TAX PAYER MONEY IS BEING REDISTRIBUTED TO WELFARE RECIPIENTS FOR FREE CELL PHONES.

This program was started earlier this year. Enough is enough, the ship is sinking and it's sinking fast. The very foundations that this country was built on are being shaken.

The age old concepts of God, family, and hard work have flown out the window and are being replaced with "Hope and Change" and "Change we can believe in." You can click on the link below to read more about the "Obama phone".

The ship started sinking when you allowed companies to export jobs to your communist rivals (irony hey) and basically sold out Americans for a profit. Don't blame that on Obama. Then disclaimed it with a that is what capitalism / the free market is all about. Bull #######. That is how we have skewed the market, in favor of the few. How about skewing it back in favor or 'we the people'?

My many times removed drug addict uncle has one of these government cell phones. It is so rediculous. I'm sorry but I don't care how liberal anyone is, we all have to admit, if someone can get money for their smack then somehow they should be able to come up with money for a phone.

If you look at the bigger picture, you will see that this is a good thing. The unversal service fund fee has been used to connect phone services to places that are not very profitable as well as provide low income access to telephone service. Its difficult to get a job, get services or do anything without a phone. This has been around for quite a long time.

Today, more and more people are switching to just a cell phone and its getting more expensive to maintain landlines for an ever shrinking customer base. Having the unversal service fund move to providing subsidies on cell phones will help keep costs down.

Yeah, that bothers me too. Not too long ago there was this couple in the grocery store in front of me paying with their food stamp card for their groceries only to drive off in this shiny late model E350. That sort of thing makes my blood boil.
