Ok, bear with me, i know this is gonna come out sounding like an #######, so i apoligise in advance...

I sent our I-129f on the 9th of October. As some already know, I was lucky that my petition even arrived at VSC, on the 22nd.

So 2 weeks of waiting on a very slow mail system, that's supposed to be express. Typical when sending mail from generally-xenophobic communist countries to paranoid police states. Still, peanuts on the overall timescale.

What has been increasingly beginning to worry me though, is how long the VSC is taking to cash my check, and give me a goddamn recipt number. Since it arrived on the 22nd, my bank account has still not been debited, and therefore i still have no way of knowing that they truly recieved my package, and that there are no critical errors in it. Besides, i want to have a nice long meaningless talk with my favorite government contract-workers, with a standardised 14 answer/question sheet.*http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=220499*

Until i have a reciept number, i cant even have a chat. So effectively, im locked out waiting at the gate, but short an I-129F! And i thought being lost in the mail was bad- at least then i knew i needed to resend the package.

So what i want to know is, did i miss something HUGE, or did god just take a ###### on me? (story of my life)

So what insight can anyone give me? please, anything will help at this point- but honestly, i am loosing sleep over it. A 1 year and very uncertain road to a ###### visa is bad enough in and of itsself.

So how about anyone filing from China specifically? who did you address the check to? How long did it take YOU to get a receipt number?

Ill post the end of my package tracking statement from usps if it helps:

So, what i'm trying to say is, is this typical? It just makes me so angry (although happy for those people) to see others have I-129F timelines like:

day 1- Sent I-129f

day 2- I-129F arrives at VSC

day 3- Check cashed

Day 4- NOA1 arrives

Day 5 to 12- processing

Day 13- NOA2!!!!

Whereas i dont even know what to think! Its like im back to the drawing board all over again! :crying:

I'm sorry it is so slow but it can take 60 days to get the NOA-1. Keep an eye on your bank account for the cheque to be cashed. And comparing your timeline to others is a quick way to go insane!

As for your other question, don't file another I-129F until you formally cancel the 1st. Once you do that, then file again. But seriously, wait for the NOA-1

Good luck.

It is not unusual for it to take maybe a week for the check to clear your bank. When the package first arrives it is reviewed to make sure the check is there, the check is signed and the forms are signed. If all that is correct, they will accept it for processing and send you a receipt, eventually. See the pinned topic above for my conversation with a director at VSC and his description of exactly what your petition is doing now.

It is for this reason the stuff is pinned here at the top of the forum

The other timelines make you angry because you are ignorant of how they are generated. Some people wait a month for the NOA1, but that is because it is a USELESS document and the USCIS gives it the priority a USELESS document deserves. When it finally arrives, it has an NOA1 date about the same as the day it was delivered, so people put that in their timeline...the timeline is backfilled. Then it looks like they got their NOA1 in 3 days. Never happened. That is the effective NOA1 date, not the date they received it in the mail. Your timeline will look the same also. NOA1s are done in batches, see the pinned topic above.

You have your delivery date. For all intents and purposes that IS your NOA1 date. When your check is cashed, you can get the case number off the back of the check, then go entertain yourself with the online update system or whatever other shiny objects they have to play with while you wait several months. You can use the delivery date for your VJ timeline NOA1 date if you want, close enough.

Exactly. But the only problem is, assuming the check is erroneous, how would they let me know?

u will receive noa1 (first notice of action) it will give you ur receipt number (this is used for any communication and checking ur status on line) this notice will also have ur date of receipt on it.........prolly wont be the same date that u have for package delivered mine wasnt but the date it was put into the system.........for example mine reached the service center aug 18 it was receipted by csc sept 24th........this process takes time u have to learn patience :)

for the next months to come it is prolly the only time in ur life that you have absolutely no control over any part of this process......you can not hurry them.......u can not give them anything more to help get it going faster .......you just have to set back relax and try to keep urself busy

Slow down there, big fella. I know it's painful, but suggest you DO something else, whilst waiting.

I envy you, tremendously - yer living with yer lass WHILST yer waiting on paperwork - IMO - that's the best situation to be in.

For now, I suggest the two of you getting out in the city and countryside for those many and various photo shoots, take loads of photos of the two of you together, along with her family. Is always good time to experiment with yer digital camera.

Relax, you...

HAha!!

O that lightend my spirits.... Brings back memories form my days at chenjiagou- u been around henan much darnell?

But yea, i suppose your right, could be worse. I just feel like i spend more time worrying about visas than i spend actually in the country.

The return address on my package was'nt written, so thats another reason this is so nerve wreking.

For most, myself included, venting is part of the process. You might want to consider writing up a good vent in the Off Topic Section, though - or setting up a free blog at live.com

Now, how could it be worse, you ask?

You could be a private contractor in Kuwait or Iraq, with yer lass in China, and have to send the casefile and THEN WAIT. Being in a muslim country without beer sucks loads. But I digress

I challenge you - write up (in OT ) a review of 5 beers that you find at the local store.

For myself, I get around Chengdu and Wuhan, with sidetrips into the lowish mountains.

I bet, every single one of us gone thru this process that you just've started didn't feel any different than what you are now. But this TOO SHALL PASS! Change the topic title from impatiently to PATIENTLY and that is the only thing you have control over, nothing else...

As soon as your check is cashed on the back of it you will have USCIS receipt # starting with 3 alphabets (service center speific)..

Cheers..

But your address is on the I 129f form itself, no?

I agree - a chill pill is MUCH in order here. If you're this frazzled so early on, you're going to stroke out by the time she actually has an interview at the consulate.
