I'm filing my I-129F this week for my fiance who lives in Northern Ireland. I've been reading through all these threads pretty much all day making sure I'm prepared and have everything I need. Some people are talking about interview(s) plural, and I was under the impression that there was only one interview at the embassy in the country that the Beneficiary is from. Will I have to interview somewhere as well? I also read some where fiances were going to the interview together. I didn't know that was a possibility, or is it only for certain countries?? I'm sorry if this is totally random or I'm being a dunce, but I'm starting to get really frustrated and discouraged by all of this, and I needed a few questions answered. Thank you for your help in advance. You're saving me from going nuts before I even get the thing in the mail! :help:

This process is overwhelming at best...ask away! Yes...You can go to the interview with him. And to answer your question about the embassy I just went to verify under the embassy info and if you live anywhere in the UK, you will use the London Cosulate.

well first...take a deep breath... realize this is a long process... nothing happens overnight... and even when it seems to be speeding up it probably isnt... and when you have questions just ask they are alot of very knowledgable people here that can and will answer your questions... sometimes it might take a day or three... and sometimes you might even have to go and "BUMP" your thread to get a little attention....

But to answer you 1st question... for the K1 visa there is only 1 interview... for the benificiary... BUT.. depending on the consulate the petitioner might be well advised to attend that interview... so you will have to research your embassy to see if this is the case for you!

Hope that helps!

Wow i wasn't expecting a reply until in the morning! Okay the deep breath only calmed me for a minute, but thank you for the answers! That helps a lot. I'm so greatfull that I found this web site! It helps so much to have ppl who actually know what we're going through. We don't have a whole lot of family support. So thank you very much!!!

The bolded part is especially wise to heed. To save any Ecuador filers the research (if they are reading this), I will take this and every other opportunity to say that the petitioner must be at the first interview or the visa will be refused!

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

In theory...no. I strongly recommend USC's to attend interviews if at all possible for the moral support of the SO. Some consulates will not let you in the door. Send in your passport as evidence you are there. Some will let you in but not into the interview area, so be it. Others will de-facto require you to be there (as mentioned Ecuador). At any rate I considered my presence to be for Alla, not for the consulate.

The beneficiary will have an interview at the Embassy in their country before receiving the K-1 visa. Then later after you both marry here, you file for AOS or adjustment of status. The end of that process both of you go to an interview here.

In some consulates the petitioner can or must attend along with the beneficiary.

London is a low fraud consulate (read: easy). Unless the beneficiary is not a UK born citizen, you shouldn't have much to worry about. Actually, there was just a discussion in the UK forum about attending the interview. Many K1s elected to save their money and vacation for the quickly approaching wedding! :) Gary is totally correct that there is good value in attending for moral support - we can surely build ourselves up to be quite nervous even if it usually turns out nicely.

I think N. Ireland still interviews through London even though the Ireland consulate might be closer.

K-1:

January 28, 2009: NOA1

June 4, 2009: Interview - APPROVED!!!

October 11, 2009: Wedding

January 22, 2010: Bogus RFE corrected through congressional inquiry "EAD waiting on biometrics only" Read about it here.

March 15, 2010: AOS interview - RFE for I-693 vaccination supplement - CS signed part 6!

March 27, 2010: Green Card recieved

ROC:

March 1, 2012: Mailed ROC package

Unfortunately, I was a case where I didn't go with my SO. (Jamaica Consulate). But he is a strong determined, straightforward kinda guy and he did a GREAT job without me! It can be done depending on the consulate...
