Well Steven... I guess someone here needs to read up more on what kind of modeling Global Cooling was addressing vs Global Warming is looking at now. And may I add... many of the scientists back in the day aren't the same scientists doing the analysis now so its even more incongruous unless, of course, the scientifically illiterate would care to divulge in scientific philosophy that only practicing scientists actually use.

And the scientists of tomorrow will have a different opinion. Lest we forget all the federal grants they get.. hmmmmmmm

I merely pray that more people in this country stop being so dam stooopid when it comes to science.

Who do you pray to?

More with the funding idiocy. Yeah... all scientists apply (with procedural process and peer-review oversight) to the US Gov for money.

I pray to God you learn something someday.

Its the first time i've mentioned it. But its true.

Learning like science is science and only the scientifically illiterate would be stupid enough to define science as religion in scope. Get a grip kid.

The problem is that it isn't science. Science = to know

You don't know JACK

I actually had lunch with Jack, Kelly, Jason, and Andrew today. And he (they) is also a scientist like me, not you. So unless you are privy to yet more things that I as a scientist am not, by all means share them and stop making yourself look like the fool you already look like.

I wouldn't conclude a nationwide thing from one observation in one place in California. That's a perfect example of bad science.

Perhaps the 'weed tree' isn't exactly a 'weed tree' and there's more to the story.

Touche.

No, they were weed trees. Small, secondary growth, mostly California Bay Laurel and Live Oak. In a compromise, the ten or so small diameter trees removed were replaced by 50 redwoods planted in three different stands in the nearby area, and the creation of an unsafe intersection, on a blind turn, where everybody ignores the sign not to turn left leaving the park onto a major county road.

Darn...

Well at least they replaced. Usually when a community doesn't want its green areas removed in public areas such as this they insist on compromises such as these. Well done by all involved.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

The kids in animal costumes was after the community came to a compromise. It's something else they don't teach in schools anymore: A sense of fair play and compromise. Instead, they learn how to be tools used by adults that didn't learn that ####### when they were kids either.

The community as a whole wanted the improvement, just not in the way the traffic engineers originally designed it, where 40 trees along the roadside would have to be removed, including some California redwoods (not old growth). This is a heavily wooded area, logged out about 70-100 years ago, and this is all regrowth, infested with hardwoods.

Darn Communist science teachers!! EVIL!!!

Or could it be something that didn't originate in school itself??

 No, this was some elementary school teachers' idea of a field trip.

Ahh... that explains it. Where the serious science is taught in K-12. ;)

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

If not there, than where?

Very true. Too bad education STOPS at that elementary stage for some. And we know already that a student loses half a year of intellectual acquisition every summer. Imagine years...
