I merely pray that more people in this country stop being so dam stooopid when it comes to science.

Now, now. If only science was being taugh in school, instead of tree hugging, the population would be able to grasp such complex concepts.

If tree hugging was taught, we wouldn't have so many {expletive, derogatory synonym for ignorami} proving that they didn't learn much in school. ;)

If the matter in science per se actually were a political thing as you imply, we'd be on par with most other educated nations that are a little more farther along with the program when it came to not being such a causal factor.

Finally...

If it really was some preconceived conspiracy, why then, have scientists historically been more politically aligned with the interests that have now recently, yet real slowly, represented the less extreme illiterate sentiment expressed by some naysayers here? And furthermore- who are these evil scientists and what is their motivation to make us all eat granola and use bikes?

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Bill isn't stupid....he just doesn't trust the bodies of scientists and their consensus on Global Warming. His distrust is so great that he's willing to speculate that it's all a political ruse to get everyone to ride bicycles.

That seems to be a common mistake. Skepticism is supposed to fuel discovery, not stupidity, nevertheless. I pray he sees this.

Et tu, JAL? Que lastima! :crying:

Maybe it is just a California thing, but watching kids dressed up in animal costumes protesting the removal of some weed trees to widen the entrance of a county park tells me something is wrong with the way we are teaching our children.

Well Steven... I guess someone here needs to read up more on what kind of modeling Global Cooling was addressing vs Global Warming is looking at now. And may I add... many of the scientists back in the day aren't the same scientists doing the analysis now so its even more incongruous unless, of course, the scientifically illiterate would care to divulge in scientific philosophy that only practicing scientists actually use.

And the scientists of tomorrow will have a different opinion. Lest we forget all the federal grants they get.. hmmmmmmm

I wouldn't conclude a nationwide thing from one observation in one place in California. That's a perfect example of bad science.

Perhaps the 'weed tree' isn't exactly a 'weed tree' and there's more to the story.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Its actually about taxes and control.. Which is what healthcare is about... Which is what everything is about with this government at present time.

You aren't allowed to be a skeptic in the church of global warming. I'm a proud heretic.

Who do you pray to?

More with the funding idiocy. Yeah... all scientists apply (with procedural process and peer-review oversight) to the US Gov for money.

I pray to God you learn something someday.

I'm trying to grasp how reasonably intelligent people like Charlie Sheen can buy into Conspiracy Theories. Maybe people like that were ditching class instead of actually learning critical thinking?

He's reasonably intelligent because he's a lib. Lest we forget about him beating his wife.

Learning like science is science and only the scientifically illiterate would be stupid enough to define science as religion in scope. Get a grip kid.

Its the first time i've mentioned it. But its true.

The problem is that it isn't science. Science = to know

You don't know JACK

Joseph, an honest question here - do you know the difference between scientific opinion, hypothesis and theory?

Touche.

No, they were weed trees. Small, secondary growth, mostly California Bay Laurel and Live Oak. In a compromise, the ten or so small diameter trees removed were replaced by 50 redwoods planted in three different stands in the nearby area, and the creation of an unsafe intersection, on a blind turn, where everybody ignores the sign not to turn left leaving the park onto a major county road.
