Sara,

With Administration processing, they are doing his background check. I don't want to offend or anything but I really feel him being from Kashmir + being Muslim and a Doctor is the cause of additional background check.

If you remember a couple of years ago there was a bombing case involving Indian doctor's in England and also one of the doctor was detained in Australia (though he was freed later on). But anyways consulates these days do scrutinize more and more if the beneficiary belongs to technical fields.

Hope this won't be another long wait (F) Best wishes

(((hugs))) this does not offend me at all......just they had over two years to do all of that ........kind of makes me wonder what they were using our petition for lol.......well maybe i dont really want to know cuz im sure that they just let it collect dust or used it to even out a uneven leg on a table or something

your right he would have gotten it anyways being he is muslim adding kashmir into the mix just about guarantees it......and i had forgotten about the doctor stuff until u reminded me about it

I did Christmas breakfast with my manager and Christmas lunch with my team. I think I may have eaten too much at Benihana's but just love that place.

Hey Nina,

We did the CR-1 because I wanted him to come to India after graduation and meet my family before we actually tied the knot. It would've felt odd, y'know, to get MARRIED without my parents, cousins, family, friends and family friends not knowing the man I was going to marry (since I'd been in the U.S. for four years and met him in college). I'd already met his parents several times so that wasn't the problem. I just wanted my husband to meet/get to know the other important people in my life who I love just as much as I love him. :)

Other factors such as limited finances, job situation also influenced our decision to a degree. Furthermore, I was told by the U.S. Consulate in Calcutta (who later, I learned, does not even process immigrant visas) that a CR-1 would take 3-4 months at the very most. HA. What a laugh.

I wish USCIS would just hurry up a little. I'm beginning to regret my decision daily.

It's my four month anniversary today and I'm sad. Suffering the consequences of my own stupid choice.

The reason I asked was because I too met my husband at college, and we did an AOS instead of me having to leave the country... much easier that way because I was able to work once I got my EAD, and his parents gladly let us stay with them till then.

Looking back, I would've done what you did. Get married after graduating in May and then filing for AOS. Ah, hindsight is 20/20.

Like I said, I made a stupid decision based on emotion rather logic. And now I'm paying for it dearly.

But I'll try to keep the moaning and whining to a minimum, I promise.

My day was long. But I had delicious spicy dumplings for dinner. :)

:P I don't, I do make good puri and all but I actually stay away from deep fried cooking, I am allergic to the smell, its confusing, my husband and bro says I got a lot of issues :P which I do. Basically I get sick when I am near some deep fried or any greasy food stuff, I don't have to eat it, just the look and smell makes me sick.

Now if you ask how I maintain my fattening waistline.....its the sweets that do it

Anyways, here is a video you might want to watch and try to make your own.

I'm new to this, but have lurking around this forum for a while... I just wanted to say I've always been fascinated by the Indian culture! I read translated Hindi books and listen to Indian Music although I don't usually understand a word! :P.. I tried learning Hindi and Malayalam.. I've always wanted a Saree and finally got one last month! LOL (I didn't know they are that hard to wear though ) Anyway, you guys who are Indian or have been to India, you are lucky! It's really a dream of mine to go to India one day!

Much love from Egypt!

Aya

i agree, always wanted to go to egypt. been to india 4 times. time for a change of scenery, lol.

i can't get any of my family members to go to an indian restaraunt, and so i am waiting for my husband to get here so we can go together. imo, hindi is not an easy language to learn if you are not around it constantly. my husband gave me some hindi books, then makes fun of me when i attempt to pronounce it :diablo: but the movies and music are always fun

trinket, i was going to say maybe that is what i need, to become allergic to sweets, junk food, and all things deep fried :P

you can always hang out in south asia, aya. there are no strangers here
