Waiting Times

I apologize in advance if this question has been asked a lot before. I honestly searched the forum.

We filed in May 21st of this year and have only seen the case touched once on 8/27/2009. The 6 month CA processing times would bring us up to November 21st. There have been no requests for evidence - or any communication whatsoever.

First question - Is this normal?

Second question - Assuming we get an interview date between now and Nov. 21st, (and everything goes without a hitch) what is the "average" time between that date and getting the Visa approved?

At the beginning of this process i was foolish enough to believe that the 6 month CA processing time would be the amount of time it would take to get my fiancée here. DOH!

Thank you!

Ron

Maybe I'm not using the terminology correctly. The application was accepted at the office on May 21st, and has been in "Initial Review" this entire time. With one "touch" on 8/27/2009 -

you can tell every time it's touched by monitoring your case on the USCIS website, you can get email or even TXT notification and follow it along.

https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/login.jsp

doesn't help if you're not in the US, however.

Is it typical? No. Is it normal? In some cases, yes. Each case is different - often, very much so.

Second question - Assuming we get an interview date between now and Nov. 21st, (and everything goes without a hitch) what is the "average" time between that date and getting the Visa approved?

You haven't gotten an NOA2 yet. You have a few steps remaining before you're going to get an interview date. It's remotely possible you could complete those before November 21st, but not likely. Your petition needs to be approved before anything else is going to happen.

Average time between the consulate in Romania receiving the petition and the interview date is 33 days, according to Igor's list. This will also depend on how soon the packet 3 forms are returned to the consulate. The visa will be approved or not at the interview. Actually getting the visa once approved may take a day, a week, or several months - depends on the consulate and whether AP is required.

Assuming your petition were approved today, and everything goes "without a hitch", your fiancee might have a visa by Christmas.

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!
