Question for people dealing with London embassy

It's been a very stressful past couple of months. Our case was approved the last week of August (while I was in England visiting my fiance) and I didn't come back to the states until the middle of September. Since then I've been working on getting my original documents plus copies put together (and affidavit of support etc...) and he's been working on getting his stuff together. He's in the process of getting vaccinations done and will hopefully be able to have his medical done in November. My question is this: our petition runs out on December 26th. Even though he doesn't have all the documents yet (he will within the next two-three weeks) we are planning on sending in the embassy forms by the end of this week/beginning of next week. I'm curious from other peoples' experiences if this is a long enough time frame for the embassy to grant him an interview date before our Dec. 26th cut off date (i.e. how long have people had to wait between sending in the embassy forms and their interview date). If not and if I need to send the embassy an extension request, when should I send that? What kind of documents do I need to send with the extension request if need be? I will be SO glad when we get this done and he can move here and we can work on stuff together. It's so confusing and frustrating. Thanks for any help and advice.

I'm not sure about applying for extensions to petitions as I have no experience of that, however for us from sending packet 3 back (sent 25 August) to getting packet 4 (received 4 September) was just over a week with the interview scheduled on the 25 September.

Great, thanks for sharing your experience, Dom! Sounds like it doesn't take as long as I was thinking (although I know every case is different). Think we'll go ahead and send packet 3 next week and call it good. :) Thanks again!
