I posted this on another part of the forum but I think this is the correct place to ask

My boyfriend and I have been trying to get him a visa to the us. He tried a tourist visa last year so he could come visit me but was denied because of insufficient ties to mexico.

i am a US citizen living in the usa, and he is a mexican citizen of course living in mexico.

what would be the fastest way for him to be able to come over here? the fiance visa or the marriage one? We plan to be married the question is do it before and apply for the marriage one? or do the fiance visa and wait for approval?

also, if we do the marriage visa route it is quiet possible that I might move there to be with him while the papers are being processed, since they take so long. Would that hurt his chances since we would then both be in mexico?

thanks for your time!

The fiance visa (K-1) is quicker but costs a lot more. The spousal visa is slower but is cheaper and allows for your boyfriend to work and travel immediatly after arriving in the US. Personally the Cr-1 is superior. You may visit him without any consequences - that's fine and will help you in the interview as well.

Good luck.

'living' in Mexico is up to the Mexican authorities. I don't know what you need to do to make that happen. You have to have 'domicile' in the US and be able to fill out the I-864 showing you make 125% above the poverty limit, or have a cosponsor.

Good luck.
