Bringing house plants

My wife has a few house plants she was wanting to bring to the US once she moves here. I've read on here that you need to obtain a phyto sanitary certificate from agriculture Canada in order to do so.

Is this all that is needed and does anyone know where to get this certificate? I did some looking online and can't seem to find an actual application or contact.

thanks!

The best ways to do this are as follows. 1.) Root (Australian folks please stop laughing) a few cuttings of the plants that you want to ship. 2.) Remove all soil and wrap the roots of the cuttings in damp paper towels and plastic bags. 3.) Mail the rooted cuttings to yourself. That's it. Now, if that won't work for you, then I would ask you to list (here preferably) what you want plants you want to take with you. I've run into this problem before but it's been a while. So if you can send it thorugh the mails, you'll save yourself a huge headache.

You will need form 3369. The cost is $12.25 for up to $1600 of value. You can take the plants in to your local office of the CFIA Plant Protection Unit, in Toronto they are located at 1124 Finch Ave. West, Unit 2, if you are in a hurry. The phone number is (416) 665-5055. They are open 8-4, M-F, call ahead. If you are not in Toronto, phone the 800 number for the CFIA 1-800-442-2342 / 1-613-225-2342 (Ottawa) (M-F 8-8 Eastern Time) and ask for your local office. Some people have been refused entry without a certificate so why chance it, especially if you have huge specimens. Here's the link:Phytosanitary Form
