Airport shopping is for people with too much money.

It's called the developed world.

I am sure you are happy that the US is on par with India in various areas.

Personally, I love India...in many many ways it is much more developed than the rest of the world.

However, Shivaji airport is difficult...

Wow that's a shame. I have friends that come from other 'first world' countries to attend the universities here (yes, even Australia!) and they enjoy the states and have a blast in New York City. A good friend of mine from Dublin has decided to stay here permanently just recently and one of the reasons was because he loves NYC. I don't know it seems like it's just your personal preference.

I'm planning my first trip to Europe for after I have the baby in April. We're thinking during the summer. I haven't been lucky enough to travel overseas as of yet. My husband & I will be visiting friends in Spain, Belgium and Switzerland. Not sure where else we will venture out to, guess it depends on our finances.

Is your wife the USC? Does she feel bad when you openly insult her country? Just curious. I think anyone, despite where they come from, has a certain love for their home country.

Yes she is a US citizen. There is no insult here, it's called reality. Just look at where the majority of immigrants are migrating from 2nd and 3rd world countries.

Yeah new york city is fun and all but that does not mean it's nice. Not to mention that there are a hell of a lot of cities that are even more fun.

Have you even wondered why NYC and most other US cities fail to make the top 30 of any international survey? In particular, world best cities rankings. I am certainly not going to lie about the condition of the roads, public transport or lack of, lack of modern infrastructure.

Here I dug this up:

Impressions: Best and worst, Your impressions of the best/worst of your SO's country and the US

Best of U.S:

* Merchandise is cheap - cars, electronics, clothes etc

* Beautiful landscape and scenery - in places not occupied.

* Great variety and choice of stores

* Generally Friendly people - for the most parts of America (excludes large cities of course)

* Well mannered folk - (excludes large cities of course)

* Free to be as you please - As in, you don't have to conform to a group

* Don't like how things are run, simply move to the next county or state

* Very very diverse country - almost like 50 mini countries.

Worst of U.S :

* Infrastructure - Roads, PT, Parks, Nation's Capital (disgraceful)

* Right or wrong, everyone has an f'n opinion.

* Questionable food quality

* Idiotic Drivers + shitty trucks everywhere

* People can be self-centered - never get in front of a bitchy mom on a mission

* Fail to grasp the concept of world - as in, anything outside the US

* Cut-throat working environment - zero protection or benefits if laid off

* Has-been rundown towns and cities

* Plagued with ghettos and poor areas.

--------

Best of Aus:

* Friendly and easy going people

* Excellent quality of food and produce - fresh

* Unique and beautiful scenery - even around towns and cities; as people have pride in taking care of their country

* Lots to do around cities

* Most metro area streets have side walks and street lights

* Excellent new public transport options (train / tram / Bus)

* Fresh clean air

* Modern infrastructure and cities

* Great working conditions and benefits

* Poor actually get a chance to progress

* Strict yet fair immigration policy

Worst of Aus:

* Expensive to live in

* Larrikinism is popular amongst various demographics

* Ridiculous jail sentences - 3 years for murder is not uncommon

* Can fail to comprehend that what is popular there, not so much abroad

* By the book

* Tall poppy syndrome

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

I like how there are a lot more negative adjectives for the "worst of the US" than the "worst of Aus".

And Fresh Air? What's next - Australian farts don't smell!?

Yes fresh air. The cities are not polluted and do not smell like #######, EG LA, NYC.

Pikey, there is a reason why the UN just rated them basically 2nd best in the world. The same reason so many Brits emigrate there permanently. Hint: it's know as quality of life.

You keep saying that. I keep trying to find a reason to care.

Again its as though you take these rankings to be reflections on your personally - seems pretty bizarre to me.

Time to accept others are doing things better than the US. For you to deny this, clearly you have not traveled much. That is a dead giveaway.

EG, no one that has owned or driven a lambo would dare suggest 'it's okay' but that a '87 F150 isn't that bad either.

What have I denied?

I think you aren't reading what's written.

I get it, you don't care. Great! So why comment or respond?

If someone was discussing the NFL, I am not going to go into the thread and throw out a yawn or disagree with those interested in discussing it. Common sense.

I remembered this National Gaurd who was holding a gun that stretched from his head to toe. Ridiculous! I couldn't enjoy someone having a gun the size of a tank next to me. This happened at JFK.

Moan about what dh? The three topics I will always comment on are:

  • Infrastructure in this country
  • Piss poor attitude of the urban underclass
  • Illegal aliens

If you don't like it there is the ignore user option. However, rest assured either you or your small group of bud will comment since that is what you guys do. It's your thing here.

Yes - the developed world. Where public toilets are made of marble and the cistern filled with Chanel Number 5.

What are you talking about? :wacko: Compare Heathrow's T5 to any US airport. Once again, with comments like these, you either have not traveled outside your parents basement in the UK or you are just an i---t. Which is it?

I have used the majority of those airports.

WORLD'S TOP 10 AIRPORTS

1 Incheon International Airport

2 Hong Kong International Airport

3 Singapore Changi

4 Zurich

5 Munich

6 Kansai

7 Kuala Lumpur

8 Amsterdam

9 Centrair Nagoya

10 Auckland

More BS statistics without a source? About what I would expect from a clock puncher.

Have you seen what kind of cars Europeans drive?

I'd take an F150 over a Fiat Punto any day.

As for "idiotic drivers", they are everywhere, even in Paris:

Does anyone honestly "enjoy" airports?

I wouldn't say the process leading up to boarding the plan is enjoyable but the excitement that is felt going away and seeing other airports and what kind of shopping they provide is.

I know some of you travel way too much and prolly hate the airports.

I would trade places with you anytime...I have no issues jet setting B)
