I live in the the DC area. It's not hatred at all. Just pointing out that reality the US is severely behind in terms of infrastructure. Anyone who has traveled or lived in other first world countries would know this. Unfortunately the country has been embroiled in rights issues for the past 40 years, all while the erst of the developed world overtook.

NYC is a good example of a city being very average by international standards. It's run down and in a desperate need of a makeover. However every native NYer swears it's the best city in the world.

Nice jab. Of course since you know I'm from NY I saw it coming. I don't claim it's the best city in the world, but that's not going to change the fact that I think it's a great place. I loved growing up here, I have a family history here that goes back over 100 years.

I also see great things in other places that I visit as well. As a matter of fact, I think Washington DC is one of the most beautiful cities in this country. I had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend there this year.

I'm what you would call open minded. My husband's home city of Lima Peru is underdeveloped (especially to your standards) but the culture and people of that city are amazing.

But, you didn't answer my question. Do you like anything about the US? If so, what?

Indeed - civil rights are the reason that the airports are crappy and the trains don't run on time ;)

Its enough to make you want to kick the next "minority" you meet ;)

There is only a finite amount of time and resources. A good portion of the United States has been spent fighting rights and other #######. Also known as priorities in the developed world.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

There is no way you can substantiate the argument that somehow bad infrastructure is the result of civil rights movements - that's as ridiculous an argument as its possible to get.

There's zero connection between the two - perhaps it has rather more to do with the funding of local governments and spending on other things by the Federal.

I thought that answered itself. For myself, it's embarrassing to have relatives and friends visit.

Which other first world countries have you visited?

All good and well however I never said anything about civil rights. I said rights related issues.

It didn't. For the retards in the audience (people like me), could you spell it out?

What would silence in response to that question mean?

You've been here so long, there must be something.

Perhaps your wife?

Or does the silence mean you don't like that too much either?

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

Such as?

As stated earlier, priories were and are still not in the same places of various highly ranked European countries, Canada or Australia.

UK seems to be going down the same road. However, at least London has soho,

Is that supposed to offend me?

Wow that's a shame. I have friends that come from other 'first world' countries to attend the universities here (yes, even Australia!) and they enjoy the states and have a blast in New York City. A good friend of mine from Dublin has decided to stay here permanently just recently and one of the reasons was because he loves NYC. I don't know it seems like it's just your personal preference.

I'm planning my first trip to Europe for after I have the baby in April. We're thinking during the summer. I haven't been lucky enough to travel overseas as of yet. My husband & I will be visiting friends in Spain, Belgium and Switzerland. Not sure where else we will venture out to, guess it depends on our finances.

Is your wife the USC? Does she feel bad when you openly insult her country? Just curious. I think anyone, despite where they come from, has a certain love for their home country.
