aaah yeah I get that too - I hate calling my bank and wind up speaking to "David" in India. People don't even bother pronouncing my husband's name, yet still can't manage to spit our our last name - which perplexes me completely.

I responded to the original thread with good arguments based on research, and I think this is a very interesting topic that affects about 40% of VJ members, some of whose spouses have had their names bastardized in such a way.
