My fiance interviewed in Ankara three times, First interview they asked him three questions, lasted three minutes. Second time he just turned in his passport, waited a week and no visa, third time like two questions.

He did say they were very rude, he saw one man tear up a lady's paperwork because it was wrong, he waited like all day. So be prepared.

Overall good luck and the process will end soon. We just celebrated our one year anniversary

Congrats on your anniversary. Ours will be a week and a half after the interview.

I read the consulate reviews by people and there were a lot of complaints of rudeness for the Ankara embassy.

A pretty good estimate by the attorney I would think. Iran is a T country and security checks will take longer. Don't know where you got the three months from but you wouldn't even get a K1 visa that quick anywhere.

I've never heard of the term, "T country." Can you inform what this means? Thx.

Great pumpkin pic. I totally stole it for my Facebook status for Halloween.

3 times?!!!!!! wow, was he missing any documents? did he change his passport or had any travel any where during his AP? could you please provide more info?

Being a female hopefully it won't take so long but be prepared for the worst. anywhere from 3 months to 3 years.

Individuals born in or witch links to certain countries are scrutinized a lot more then others. Also people with certain common last names also face lengthy delays due to "name hits" I had to wait for over an year for my visa. I wish you and your son good luck and a swift wait however the lawyers are being realistic as long delays are not unheard of. Also on a positive note I believe efforts are underway to shorten the wait time so lets see.

Goodluck!

My son forwarded an email from his attorney to me today, and he is soooooo depressed he doesn't even want to discuss it.

The email says....

"I want you and your fiancee to be prepared for a long processing time. We will do everything we can to minimize the wait, but typical processing is 8 - 12 months according to the U.S. Embassy. Its difficult to know for sure because of the security check process. They won't tell us where they are in the process or how much longer it may take because of national security concerns.

We will be by your side throughout the process, but it will take a lot longer until your fiancee will have her visa and be ready for travel "

Is the attorney trying to prepare my son for the worst or does he know this is about to happen?

What does he mean by "typical processing"? I read approx. 3 months.

Any suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated.

From what I have read on this site the A/P process is not longer than 3 months or so and sometimes visa's are granted much sooner... this is my take on the Iranians...other people from other countries assume without checking the stats... Good Luck.

One of the terrorist countries.

Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan I'm sure there are more on the list. If the visa applicant comes from a country on the T list the security checks take much longer.

Ahh, of course, the big T. I feel stupid for not recognizing that, thx. I wonder if India's proximity to Pakistan is the reason India Visas are given so much scrutiny? Or, if India has a high rate of fraudulent visas....

The attorney is being quite accurate. Iran applicants go through Administrative Processing after the interview in pretty much all cases.

I would be prepared for the long haul, and if you get it sooner, then be very happy. I've been waiting 12 months to have my conditions removed based on marriage, I have submitted all the necessary documents, complied with all the requirments, and today I got a letter in the mail that says my case was denied because they did not recieve the additional information they requested, and I have in my hand the receipt from the USPS confirming the delivery and the name of the person that signed for it.... I have no idea what I will do now... Apparantly I now need to send them another $600 to re-open my case....

I wanted to cry this afternoon...

I'm guessing you are looking at the VJ timeline compliation. Not everyone signs up for that, and therefore not included. I would suggest you look at the AP/AR section for more individual experiences.

I think part of the problem is there are many common names from Iran/MENA which take longer to check/cross check.

Good Luck on your journey!! Prepare for the worst, be joyful for better results.

Please dont inflame the OP's statement. The fact is, Pakistan is a big hide out for Al Queda. ANyone who reads even occasional international news hears the battles going on, and Pakistan is doing alot to beat down Al Queda. Naturally, the US would want to give visas in Pakistan additional scrutiny to keep the bad guys from coming to the US. Dig?

Peace.

I am immigrating from Canada and my fiance and I have been waiting for 10 months. We finally got an interview date but its has still been a long wait since February.

I think any kind of immigration paperwork is just really long in general, and some situations complicate it further.

I hope things work out well for you :)

Finally married... and still married... ;)

"Iran is a T country" is a good excuse for attornies to make money! DO THE PROCESS YOURSELF, never ask help from them... it's the mistake we made before... They lie to make money. Yes most of Iranians need to pass a security check but things are not as bad as they say. They keep sending you such messages to make you pay and pay and pay!

I agree with this one, do it by your self.

When I came here in Saudi Arabia way back in the year 2001 was the time when I learned something how this world is evolving to each other. Those were the times I learned what kind of relationship does Iran and Syria is having with the US. I thought, their citizens might be the same, I guess not.

So it would be very appropriate if we do not tackle such terrorist issues because this might cause to ignite flame to the heart of those people who got nothing to do with what is going on in their homeland.

Albeit the Government of Iran and Syria does not possess of good relationship with the US it doesn't mean all of their citizens are the same.
