Does anyone know if their husband's Egyptian military certificate was from the Ministry of WAR, instead of Ministry of DEFENSE?

We got an RFE for this, and I did see on NVC website that for Egypt, they do state military certifcates need to be from Ministry of War. My husband is making some phone calls back to Egypt about it, but I was wondering if any of you have this specific information.

Thanks, and have a good week everyone :star:

Ok so I asked my husband and he never heard of anyone going to the ministry of war for a military cert. He actually doesn't know what the name of the office is in English but he said to have your husband contact the local "tagneed" office in Egypt. He said the best bet would be to have your husband ask someone from Egypt who has been in the military about this. I wonder if this is something new? The husband nor I was aware that more than military cert was available. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I asked Wael about the military certificate also. He said Egypt doesn't have a Ministry of War, only a Ministry of Defense. This is where he would obtain his military certificate. Good luck!

My husband & I send our thanks, I told him about the local tagneed office and he knows what it is (basically the local military office where you check in & out when you travel in/out of Egypt if your still in Reserve force), he will have his brother go there and find out what he needs to do to get this document. My husband currently works in Doha, Qatar and will have his interiew in Qatar, not Egypt.

We sent NVC his honorable discharge certificate from Ministry of Defense, I guess that's not what they wants............

Thanks again :star:

Just a tip for anyone in the future.......my husband just found out what military certificate NVC needs for the IV packet:

a Military Exemption Certificate, from the local Mantakat Tagneed/Army Center, stating the person is NOT NEEDED for service and can travel outside Egypt for a specific purpose.

This is obviously totally different from the standard Military Certificate just showing they were in the Military.

That's the document my husband has. :) He is an only boy and therefore, exempt from military duty. He got it from the tagneed office. Husband also described it like your husband did. We were confused about the ministry of war thing since my husband never heard of it, only knew that certificates came from the tagneed office. I'm glad he could help at least a little bit. (F)

Also, regarding military exemption, your husband should also have a stamp in his passport stating he is exempt from the military. If not, he should get it. This is according to my husband.

Hi, yes my husband did serve in the Army also until 2004, so he is not exempt, but he is finished with active duty. We sent NVC this yellow, two sided certificate stating his military service and dates from the Ministry of Defense, but NVC says the certificate must be from Ministry of War.

Ahmed's sister-in law in Egypt has a brother who is an Army officer in the local Tagneed office, so i'm sure we will get what NVC needs, hopefully fast!

Thank you everyone :star: and good luck to all of us for speedy approvals :star:

The cert from the tagneed office will be multi-colored looking with writing on front and back. I dunno if it comes laminated but my husband's cert is laminated. Newer ones may not look this way though. My husband has had his for years due to being exempt and never having to serve in the army.

My husband was also exempt from the military. His form was laminated too, which they did for him. It was a blue half sheet of paper, with writing only on the front. I know Ahmed got his exemption form this year (only because I told him he needs it for immigration purposes) and I don't know where Ahmed got it, but he made it seem like it was a BIG journey in the middle of the dessert to get it.
