Hey there...

Well I am a bit stuck right now and in a blind panic. I was told to get my police check done 10 days before my interview (mine is on the 5th November) but have just done a bit of reading and it seems I should of done it before that date as they take a while to mail out?

Can I not just go to my local police office and obtain one there or do I now have to mail out forms?

I am in a really bad panic mode and my fiancee isn't really understanding the whole thing...

And another thing, is this pretty much the layout of my folders for the interview:

Folder 1- OF-169 form, 156 (x2), 157 (x2), 156k

Folder 2- Emails, Phone bills, phone card logs, letters, cards, photos etc etc....

Is that correct?

Has the police certificate been ordered? If it has and you don't have it back in time for the interview, they will approve, pending the police certificate. Do you have the I-134 and all of the supporting docs? That is the main thing that the London Embassy looks at. From the threads I have read from interview experiences, it is good to have proof of the relationship but they don't usually ask for it. If the police certificate has not been ordered, you can pay 75 pounds to have it done in 2 days. That doesn't gurantee it will be back in 2 days but it may make it come back quicker. That is the only way (by mail) you can order it from my understanding.

I have everything else except the police check which I was told by our lawyers to apply for tomorrow (10 day thing...).... I just hope with the strikes and all it gets here in time...

I got a letter from the US embassy asking for:

"Please download and bring the following to your interview:

156 (x2)

157 (x2)

156k"

I didnt see anything about I-134???

The I-134 would come from your fiance. This is the affidavit of support with tax returns, pay stubs, etc...shows that they can support you once you come to the states. You could have applied for the police certificate months ago. It is good for 12 months. I am not sure why they told you that but its wrong.

Yeah I am not sure either.... My fiancee is still getting all that together, we literally got the letter on friday telling us we have a interview on the 5th, letter dated from a week ago... Thinking of moving my interview date so I have more time to get everything together, since I put my wedding date as the 16th November on the documentation in packet 3, I am thinking they will be wondering whats going on....

I would go ahead with the interview rather than reschedule it. Just send them the police cert as soon as it comes through. Mine took 3 weeks to arrive.

Police certificates are good for 6 months, as a K1 you can self sponsor.

Well i sent the police check next day mail to them(on monday!), its arrived and just waiting on it to come back.... Had such a crazy time finding someone to sign it.... Paid £70 to have it rushed and still no sign of the thing...

Just waiting on my fiancee to overnight mail me the other forms from the lawyers, does anyone know if there will be more postal strikes? Just getting really worried now about it getting there on time... Interview is on Thursday and I feel very sick at the thought of it, I hate interviews and get so nervous and it makes me feel so sick.... Especially as I am traveling from 3 hours away at 5am to get there for 8:30am.

Hope this police check comes soon .

As far as the police certificate, worse case scenerio, they will approve pending receipt of the police certificate as long as everything else is in order. If your fiance is overnighting his docs to you, if he sends it UPS, DHL or Fed-ex you should get it in 1 to 2 days max. If that happens with the police certificate, you are going to be able to use their courier service vs royal mail so it will get there quicker...

You will also need your long form birth certificate, passport, and DS-230. If I think if anything else, I will let you know...

Do you have the DS 230 Part I?

Please just read a little about the Affidavit of Support on here, your fiance will need to prove his income -He may need to get tax transcripts faxed to him (proof of income), etc. Your lawyers haven't done a very good job on helping you prepare for the rest of the interview (police cert 10 days before the interview?!?!? Come ON!). Luckily, only really the I 134 needs to be original (signed) the rest he could email you to print out - pay stubs, transcripts, etc.

Also, for the I134, he needs to check that he DOES INTEND to specifically support you, but the next part can be general. I put something about housing, food, health insurance and other expenses incurred in the manner of a married couple.

Don't worry about the interview - It's like going to the bank. You're not likely to get yelled at, and if you're missing something they will just say so, and hand you a slip and tell you how to send it to them later.

It didnt say anything about a DS230 on my letter....Hmmm I will do one anyway! The forms it told me to bring were the 156, 157, and 156k. Dosent mention DS230....

I do need to do one because I read about it, but its so strange they didnt mention it on the letter!
