RIVERSIDE - Two members of the Brown Berets were facing possible charges today in a clash with neo-Nazis, who were demonstrating near a day laborer site in Riverside.

A group of counterprotesters rushed about 20 neo-Nazis near Madison Street and Railroad Avenue Saturday afternoon, and police arrested an unidentified man who pushed over a police barricade, the Press-Enterprise reported.

Geronimo Rivera, 32, was led away by police and arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly throwing some limes at the demonstrators, the newspaper reported. He was being held in lieu of $25,000 bail.

The fight erupted shortly after the neo-Nazis took up positions behind metal barricades erected by the Riverside police to keep the group separate from some 600 counterprotesters.

The demonstration was a follow-up to a rally held last month in the same area.

Jeff Hall, a Riverside resident and state director of the National Socialist Movement, said the group met its goal -- to shut down the day laborer site.

"We're going to be here again and again," he said.

From what I observed from their website and the vids posted here, they seem to be some type of White Nationalistic group, does that automatically make them Nazi's?

Many of these type groups do seem to have some Nazi affiliation.... but I didn't see any with this one.

Check out the Swastika Neo Nazi flags they're waving. Kinda reminiscent of Adolf Hitler's Nazi Youth, don't cha think???

The only swastika I saw was on posters from the opposition, this group seemed to be waving or holding american flags.

Most of the time in these threads I disagree with the constant stigma and poor treatment that latin american immigrants are given. Many are murdered, beaten or just humiliated. I, for one, believe that no one should be stigmatized or discriminated against for their nationality and/or legal status in this or any country.

However, most people take that to mean that I am FOR illegal immigration. That is very, very far from the truth. I just believe that enforcing the law and being completely prejudice and violent against groups of people are 2 completely different things. So I know where you're coming from when you say that you have been misunderstood!

So Latinos are the victim are they? That is a first. Unfortunately the crime stats seem to suggest otherwise. not to mention, the immigration stats were they have basically swamped the country and by means of numbers, muscled their way in ahead of everyone else.

Spoken like an American Lib. For example, you want to prevent people blowing your cities, however, you disapprove with every and any realistic means available to do so. It's usually against something you guys stand for. As per usual, no suggestion on how to stop them but simply what methods you do not agree with using. It's the same mentality regarding illegal aliens. Apparently you do not condone it but I can bet a NYC apartment on it that you will be against most realistic (real world) solutions in catching them.

I have quite clearly again explained my position in relation to the OP article, and neo fascist groups and how supporting some of their actions is a dangerous avenue to persue. If Deadpool condones the actions of this facist group simply because they are in alignment with his views on illegal immigrants (though exactly how perventing day workers getting work can be considered a legitimate action in the fight against illegal immigration is beyond me) that is niave because as I said, such condonment serves to legitimize and move these groups into a more acceptable position. This is not a prudent course of action to take with fascist organizations.

I find it interesting to see someone from the UK speaking up against this considering the state the UK is in. Open borders is a failed policy for the UK and is reflected in their pathetically low ranking in most international studies. Not to mention the sheer volume of Brits permanently emigrating to other first world nations.

Those of us from actual first world countries rather than some quasi-first world nation, are devotedly against illegal immigration and for sound financial reasons.

I personally know several Black acquaintances who have traveled Russia without a single problem, how did they escape this huge skinhead army you talk about?

Hell, right at this very moment, I would imagine there are thousands of foreign African students going to school, I met a few and saw a number in several cities.

A great documentary series about race & racism was on PBS, all the episodes are on you tube. Here's a good clip. For anyone who's interested. In my opinion, it's one of the best I've seen.

This video is common sense. However, as with most such documentaries, it fails to address cultural differences, which can be huge. For example, North vs South vs Midwest vs East coast. Or US vs Canada vs UK vs Australia. If we sampled NYC, would they have the same attitude or likes/dislikes as someone from Sydney? I doubt it.

Discussion of cultural differences can easily turn in racist allegations, especially in the United States where many don't understand or accept the differences. Human behavior is far from homogeneous.

Ho Hum nothing. Their tough stance is on illegal aliens from outside the EU. However, as you pointed out on numerous occasions, it has an open border policy for those from the EU. This same approach is something various people are now advocating here for those from Mexico. If such a thing occurred, I would be out so fast, they would think the Concords were brought back into service.
