My I-130 was approved on September 30, 2009 and my husband received a NOA stating that the NVC will be contacting me. I've looked at other members timelines and have found that the NVC responded within a few days max 2 weeks. It's almost 1 month and I'm wondering why I haven't heard anything. Any suggestions or advice? Clearly I'm antsy :S

Ya, here's where it gets weird.

Ask yer husband (I assume here's the USC spouse ) to call the NVC call center, get a human, and inquire about the status.

If yer lucky, NVC will have a casenumber assigned by now, and then will ask some data about you two, including yer two email addresses.

If that's the case - he can expect a 'DS-3032 kit' in his email , within a few days after making the call.

GOOD LUCK !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Yes, as Darnell indicates, you really have to be proactive to get things moving. That's one thing I've learned about this whole process.

As unfortunate as it is, it's incumbent upon you to read up on as much information as possible, especially the Wikis linked above. Also, you're at the stage where, once you get your case number from the NVC (again, you'll have to call them for it), you can go the Electronic Processing route. However, it's very new for Canada, so there's not a lot of direction on that from a Canadian perspective just yet...though I'll personally do up a Wiki once my own case is finalized at the NVC level.

Also, not to sound like a downer, but be prepared to wait for a few months before an interview...and be forewarned that the interview will be in Montreal, not Vancouver (alas!).

A lot of this you probably already know, but just in case...

Definitely call NVC, speak to an operator, and give both your emails. However, sometimes it takes a while to get the DS-3032 from NVC, even if you give them emails. I started to call them daily after 3 weeks and finally got my DS-3032 emailed to me on the 26th day. It sucks, NVC is supposed to be fairly quick, but a month was wasted for me just waiting for receipt of the DS-3032. You and I are not alone though; most people get it quickly but there are a few other people reporting that it has taking a while (3+ weeks).

Can you please provide email address.

Thanks

Call them... Don't e-mail them... it has been taking 3 weeks for them to reply to e-mail... if you call you can speak directly with an operator and give them your e-mail addresses and see what is going on!!!

Well, there's an entire slew of stuff to do for NVC Processing.

Have a read -

Paper Processing: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/...he_NVC_ShortCut

Electronic Processing - http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/...onic_Processing

Gather up the original documents - and read all of the pages at http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3190.html

FWIW, this is a LOT OF INFO.

I suggest you have him STUDY all this stuff, MAP IT OUT ON PAPER on what to do, and when, and how.

No No, I am NOT SUGGESTING GREEN CRAYON, but sometimes, when using CRAYON, the letters are bigger -- bigger letters , for me, tend to make things STICK in my brain for a few weeks. ;)

GOOD LUCK !

I couldn't agree more with Darnell's suggestion to STUDY it all.

Honestly, I spent countless hours over a number of days poring over all the details. And I'm still learning things!

There's a lot of paperwork, and a lot of steps, but there IS a kind of logic to it once you get the hang of the process. A frustratingly twisted logic, mind you, but logic nonetheless.

Basically, just be proactive and read as much as you can about the process. You should be able to find answers to all of your questions on this site.

Hi,

please provide me some details. I am also waiting for my NVC case number. My question is when your hubby called did AVR was updated i.e did it say your case received? or it was operator who provided you the NVC#number.

It's always a human who gives the NVC case number, for that first 'NVC contact'. Everything rolls foward after that first phone call. Make the call, get a human, have a convo !!!
