USCIS Online Case Status Service

Hello, VJers,

I just want to conduct an informal poll concerning experiences with the USCIS online status service. (Go to https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/login.jsp and register if you haven't already.)

I understand that many people are not getting emails at all. My question is among those who are getting emails are you getting emails for each touch or just for status updates?

I ask because my package got a touch on Friday but I didn't get an email or a text. I know my email is right and gets through though because I changed my password and immediately got a notification that I had done so.

You do not get an email for a 'touch' - touches do not necessarily mean anything more than the bar-code on your file was scanned.

You only get an email or text in case of RFE or decision.

I found the update service to be very good. I received emails and texts when my cases were completed.

I never got any emails or updates, at last glance (before the new system was implemented) we were still listed as "pending" which is the equivilent of "initial review" now.

Our GC case has the correct information online, as does the AP and EAD. The initial visa case number still shows pending though

We recieved sms an email confirmation only on NOA2. Online status changed at same time. It was only email or sms we have recieved. Nothing from NVC except letter in mail, and with interview wednesday, no notice from consolate.

Can anyone tell me where to go to login to the NVC site?. I read that some people did this but I cannot find where. I used the phone, got a live operator who said my docs were there, but a few days later the automated response said they were not there. Hmmm. Anyone help me here? Thanks.

I have had no case status changes at all - only one update last April, still showing initial review, and I recently received an interview date. Maybe it's specific to my consulate, because it should be showing "testing and interview".. but Montreal has been so slow. So for me it's been pretty useless.

I did not get an email when I was touched, but I did get an email when my status was updated.

From what I have been told the Automated system does not include informaiton for K1 visas.. you have to talk to a real person. Automated system will say they have no info on your case.
