I have had my finger prints taken, I have sent in photo's.......

The DS230 form is really confusing us, I'm thinking the lady probably presumed I was in the UK still.

Yes it was the free 1-800 number we called.

Which other numbers can we use? We want to call back on Monday for further advice to what is actually going on.

Yes the $400 is for the Visa fee, but like you guys said as I am already here I don't need one....

"

These are the forms you should have submitted:

I-130

G-325a

I-864

I-485

I-693"

We have submitted all of these except for the I-693 , we have never even been told about this! No one has ever mentioned it to us.

How will the medical work? How much does it cost. I'm guessing we can't get Tricare our military insurance to cover it? Will none of my previous blood tests for HIV and hep be sufficient that I have copies of from being pregnant and giving birth?

Also I received the BCG vaccination when I was 14/15 how will that effect the TB test?

Will I need police records for everywhere that I have lived for longer than 6 months? We spent three years in Hawaii while my DH was stationed there, spent 9 months in CT before we went to HI. Then now we are back in CT again, also then their is all the time I spent in UK.....

Which vaccinations do they require you to have, its kinda confusing...

I've never received any Hep shots or flus shots and don't intend on getting any. You can get a waiver on moral beliefs right? We are a delayed selective vaccinated family.

Sorry so many questions...

Hmm, the $400 is for the IV fee? Then the person you talked to on the phone was confused because that would be for the CR-1 visa that you would get at the Embassy outside of the US - and not for the AOS. Unfortunately, there isn't another number to call, which causes all sorts of problems because the misinformation line is consistently giving out bad information. You can try and see if they will 'escalate' your call to an actual immigration officer - tell them you have been waiting since 2007 for your AOS and have received mixed information and need to talk to an actual immigration official who can access your full immigration file. You might have to 'insist'.

I have never heard of them waiving the whole medical, so that may be outstanding if you don't recall getting it done. There is a waiver possible for vaccinations but it is hard to get except for medical grounds. You can certainly try - and if the whole family does not get any vaccinations at all then you stand a better chance of the waiver being accepted. Vaccinations are age, gender and time of year specific - in other words, you don't need to flu shot if it is in the Spring or you are between certain ages, you don't need the HepC shot if you are an adult, you don't need the Gardisil shot if you are over 26 or a male, etc. Part of the medical will include chest x-rays which should show that you do not have TB and that the positive reaction is due to receiving the vaccine - many people in the UK and Canada have postive reactions because they have been vaccinated. Unfortunately, most medical insurances do not cover the cost of the medical, although if you get the vaccinations done by your own doctor or at a health clinic the vaccinations can be covered. You should phone around the different Civil Surgeons in your area and see what the immigration medical costs - there is no set fee and the amounts vary quite considerably depending on how much profit the doctor wants to make (it appears to be a highly profitable line of medical work).

If you need police records, they would be for every place outside of the US where you have lived for more than 6 months as an adult so you don't have to worry about the different duty stations in the US. I don't know where they are required in the process if you are applying to adjust status from within the US from a visitor's visa. I had to provide them at the Consulate level when interviewing for my K-1. I don't recall seeing if they were listed as a requirement on the I-130. Someone else here might know.

One thing you might find useful is actually meeting with an immigration officer and discussing what you have in the file. You can do this by making an infopass appointment at the local USCIS office for your area. You would do that by going to the website at http://www.uscis.gov, selecting the "Schedule an Appointment/infopass" at the left hand side under 'Options' and then follow the directions. Both you and your husband should go to the appointment.

It does seem that your immigration situation has become far more complicated than it should be. I am curious about what forms you have filed and what fees you paid at different times since you have been working on this since 2007. Are there other ones than the ones listed above? Do you recall ever receiving a letter requesting more information, ie the medical? Is it possible that such a letter might have missed you when your husband was transferred from one station to another in the US? Have you been sending in change of address notifications to USCIS? That could explain some of the delays.

I would definitely try to speak to an actual immigration officer, if not over the phone at the 1-800 number then in person. Good luck.

Also, I've moved this thread from the AOS from a family visa Forum to the AOS from work, student & Tourist Visa Forums as the OP is adjusting from a visitors visa.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Thank you for all your feedback it is much appreciated.

We will call back Monday and the setting up an immigration appointment with an officer seems like a very good idea.

I'll be 27 in December so the Gardisil shot shouldn't effect me, I'll wait and get my medical later if I have too.

We have never received any letter about medical, I have every letter ever sent filed. We only filed for the first time since we have been here in CT so i know nothing would have been sent to previous addresses. We have been here for two and half years.

One fo the main reason's it has been going on so long has been lack of funds. We haven't always had the money they have needed and it has taken a while to save it....My eldest has special needs and it took us ages to fight our insurance company to cover all his needs. Until they did we were paying $400 a month out of pocket to keep him healthy.

I heard that their can be a military route you can take if your spouse is active duty is this true? Does anyone have any info on it? My DH has served for almost 13 years int he Navy.

Again thanks for all the help.
