Purchasing Airline Tickets for the Philippines

I dont think so. My husband bought my ticket online, vayama.com. He also reserved my seat online, so I think you can possibly reserve the seats too so you and Janet will be seating beside each other when you come back here..

Thanks for your reply. I also now have a question on originating flights. I understand flights originating from the Philippines (which Janet's would be) must be purchased in the Philippines. That would mean then her ticket for sure must be purchased from either a travle agency that can handle that or somehwere there in the Philippines . I think I will also have janet maybe check on a ticket with a local travle agency there. I'm not sure the best way to do this. My whole plan was to go there and return with her and be with her. Grrrrr...some of this seems so chaotic...I'm glad its almost over for us

I did everything thru northwest airlines and online. Booked a round trip for myself, booked a one way ticket for my wife and her 2 children. I called Northwest airlines. They were awesome !!! The allowed me to use my built-up miles and charged me only $ 120 for my round trip ticket. They charged me about $ 710 for each of the one way tickets Manila to Orlando. I also bought them a ticket from Ozamis to Manila online at philippineair.com - BUT - you need to give your girl a copy of your credit card and maybe a written statement or they might not let her fly on the local flight.

Northwest has some really competitive airfares - but you need to play with the dates to get the best deal.

For the sitting next to each other thing, I wouldn't worry about that too much. I think the flights from manila to US are rarely completely full. I just came back a week ago and I saw some people moving around and there was empty seats. I was coming back on hawaiian airlines.

A guy across from me asked if I would swap seats so he could sit next to his wife and I said sure. I think most people would do that for you even if at check in the agent can't assign you seats together. :)

I want to buy the ticket for my fiancee, and she will fly here alone. I am trying to find a way to pay for it here, possibly online, and fax or email the information to her there, and hopefully she won't have any problems boarding.

Nice helpful Pinay travel agent in Oregon. You can pay for ticket here no problem. Better than booking online yourself because of airlines' credit card policies. There will be a tax to pay in Pinas. Good luck!

A travel agency in the Philippines told me that I might need to buy myself a round trip ticket, since I'm not a Phil citizen, as they are concerned I might not return from the Philippines. Anyone have any experience in this area?

When I went there last May/June, the immigration officer didn't even check for a return ticket, even though it's required by law. As soon as he saw my American passport, I might as well have been his best friend. Didn't even ask how long I was staying or why I was there. Technically, though, you are supposed to have a return ticket in order to get the automatic 21-day visa.

true..they didnt ask me for my return ticket when i went in august. I was staying for 26 days and after 30+ hours of travelling i never asked to see if i could pay to have my visa extended for longer....i just ended up going to the bureau of immigration for it. I would say most americans can pass to extend their visa in the philippines anyway. When i booked my ticket to the philippines, i used bookingbuddy.com. I know for a fact you can pay for a one way ticket originating in the philippines without being there. You will have to do it through a travel agent though.
