This reminds me of a costume my mom made me when I was about 3 or4 years old (I can't believe I remember that long ago :P ). I was SOOOOO mad! I wanted to be a ballerina and she hand-made this costume of traditional Saudi Arab clothing which consisted of a thowb, bisht, igal and gutra. There was a long sword out of cardboard and aluminum foil which she glued some sort of gems on it. She even drew in a little mustache on my upper lip! I remember everyone thought it was such an original costume and living in the U.S. in the 70's I am sure it was. Although how original can it be when you, your kid, and your hubby REALLY are Arab's folks and back home this is REALLY what your peeps be wearing?? Not to mention, I didn't want to be a BOY! I wanted to be a ballerina!!!!!

Anyhow, I loved the child's face on this video. I could see the excitement on his face while getting measured  That's totally how my son would be. Bored, with a capital B! Honestly though this is a super cute idea for a costume. Even though, "Where the Wild Things Are" was one of my favorite books growing up, I could never find the time to do something fun like this. If I didn't work full-time, go to school 3/4 of the time and be a mama 24 hours of everyday...I would so do this kind of stuff ALL the time. InshaAllah one day, sigh.......

Astarte hubby doesn't seem to have anything "against" Halloween just doesn't seem to get it. He is fine with us celebrating Christmas and Easter. I told him that my holidays are as important to me as Ramadan is to him. He said he thinks Christmas is a very happy time.

That's cool, he's right, Christmas is a happy time! What did you tell him about Halloween?

I just told him it was a kid's holiday and that I LOVE IT!! It really is my favorite holiday. I love watching sci-fi channel during October because they play ALL the good old horror movies and Ghost Hunters is my favorite show. Haunted houses are great too. Hubby says that ghosts don't exist. He says just Angels and Devils. He is such a tradional boy. I will change that hopefully. LOL. We are still waiting for his social security card. Until he gets that he is housebound. I went back to work yesterday and he has done great. I really will have to tell you guys sometime some of the humorous stories from our first days together. You don't realize all the things they DON'T know until they get here. Anyway, he is very sweet and kind and I know in time all the kinks will iron out. The kids have done well with the changes too. I think it was awkward for them since no man has lived in the house for over 4 years. Each day they seem to be getting more comfortable with his presence. Stay tuned folks. I am sure many funny stories will be published in the future!!
