I am a US Citizen and my fiance is in India. We are applying for a fiance visa through the New Delhi Embassy in India.

This consulate is very tricky and demanding, and I have heard an idea from another VJ member to possibly accompany my fiance to the interview whenever it comes time to do that.

I will plan to accompany her for support but also because Delhi asks for all types of evidence.

Will it add any extra weight at all to the application process if I attend the interview myself? Will my presence serve as a form of evidence? Will they allow me to walk all the way up with her to the interview window and stand there with her during the interview?

Thanks !

The general policy of the consulate in New Delhi is that interested parties may not attend the interview with the applicant.

christeen is correct that it's usually a big plus if the petitioner can be there. I'm not sure how most people cope with this restriction in New Delhi, but in Vietnam the common practice is for the petitioner to give their passport to the beneficiary so he/she can show the passport to the interviewing CO. This lets them know that the petitioner is waiting outside.

My husband does not think it will make any difference at all for me to fly to London for his interview but I really want to be there and I really think it makes a difference. Maybe people who have done it can say for sure.

Yes, you can walk right up there with your fiance, show the interview letter and your US passport and you're in. The Embassy has no problems with the petitioners joining the applicants.
