Package Sent to Wrong Consulate

Hi,

How can NVC send a package to a place where my fiancé does not live there.

I called NVC to check status on my K-1 after seeing on DHL that a package sent to Amman Jordan.

The operator said that our case is sent to Baghdad. I told her but we requested Amman as the consulate. She said since we could not contact him we sent it to Baghdad his place of birth.

My fiancé cannot go to Baghdad, he is Canadian working with US military in Iraq. They live on a US base and cannot just wonder around in Iraq.

I asked the NVC how can I get it to Amman she said to send them email asking to see if they can take it and then they can ask Baghdad to transfer.

What can I do, whom can I talk to get this fixed.

Please advice.

Thanks

Batta

Contact the Embassy/Consulate it was sent to directly - they should be able to send it where it needs to be.

This is from the question and answers section of the embassy in Amman.

Q. How can I request that case be transferred from another U.S. Embassy to the Immigrant Visa Unit in Amman?

A. Please contact us at Amman-IV@State.gov for an appointment. The transfer is not guaranteed, but you are welcome to present compelling reasons for your case to be transferred to Amman. For instance, if the beneficiary lives in Amman permanently, you may choose to present his / her residency card. If we can accept the case, resources permitting, you will sign a formal request on the day of your interview and we will forward an official request on your behalf. Please bring information pertaining to your case at the time of the interview, including the case number. Please note that transferring your case to Amman will not expedite the process and in many instances results in a further delay.

I just went through this.. They sent our file to Venezuela, because my fiance was living in Aruba.. instead of the Philippines where he is a citzen. We had to e mail both embassys and like they told you request that they can take your case. Venezuela immediately forwarded our file to Manila electronically the day we sent the e mail. It slowed the process down about 2 months, but we have finally straightened things out. The embassy will get back to you about 3 days after you e mail them.
