Hi guys,

We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Brazil, so, no holidays!

And when I wrote them, in 10 days they had my process there :D

Good luck and ops, I'm leaving the house in 5 hours, wish Lu and I luck!

Next time we "talk" will be from USA.

Much love to my VJ favorite guys,

Beinha

Thank you!

How many days should I count to start sending those? The lady said the case was mailed on Thursday 19th.

We did it a week after notice. I am not sure if the Embassy employees are off duting Thanskgiving [Thrusday and Friday], possibly you may want to try it on Wednesday [Nov 25th] if you get an answer stating they have no records of your file, dont get discurrage, try it every two days... We attempted twice and got an aswer the second time.

My life is perfect now, I'm here with my love and everything is great! I feel blessed, thank you God for all your plans, they are way better than I could have ever asked for.

Hey guys, is it really safe to ask the interview date to Rio by e-mail? Will they send me a letter to document it anyway? I am having a paranoic day, wondering "what if I took note of the RDJ# wrong and then medical is invalid??". But then I thought "they will only send me interview date if our names match the RDJ#"... so, I guess I should wait for the interview date to go after the dr... what you guys think?

It is safe, and you will get the letter by mail too.. Dont talk about paranoid becuase you have no clue how paranoid I am.. but, it is totally safe.. all you will get is the date of the interview and a link to put together your paperwork. Get the date of the interview and then we guide you for the rest of the process..

I wish I had a Minas Gerais accent, their "r"s at leat sound american! Best of luck to you, "catarina"!

Do they? Haha, I might actually understand them - the disappearing "r" is one of the things I find hardest about listening to/speaking Portuguese.

Also? The Embassy will *definitely* be closed on Thursday - Thanksgiving is a federal holiday. I don't know if it will be open for interviews on Friday, because usually people take the Friday after Thanksgiving off (a personal day if the company doesn't give it as a holiday).

(I think the "nicolau pope" is what we call a pap smear)

Oh hey, for those of you who have finished the interview already, do they call your fiancé(e) back in the US? 'Cause, right now, it's a 4 hour difference with Rio, and I really don't know how coherent I would be to get a 4 or 5 am wake up call, especially if they started off speaking Portuguese!

Funny thing is, my fiancee is from MG and i can hear the r accent when she speaks english.. not sure if is the same in portuguese, unless is her english accent, lol but sounds nice to me.

Well, the embassy doesnt call the petitioner unless is a problem and if they do will not be in portuguese but in english for sure.

The accent difference is that in SC our "r" sounds are very very soft and seems they don't exist in some words in english... hard to explain! In MG and SP, and some other states, the "r" is stronger. At least I imagine they can sound more american then me, lol!

Thank you "ImWaiting"... sometimes I feel silly to be paranoid, it's wierdly comforting to know I'm not the only one! I had a frustrating time today dealing with the Drs secretaries, didn't help my mood at all. When I start to feel like screaming I stop and make a mental check list, see its all doable and go ahead...

And a new doubt came to me! Imagine that! :bonk:

I read somewhere and I can't remember where to check, as usual, that the evidence I need for the interview is just from the last time we were together until the interview date. Meaning that the stuff about meeting first place and before meeting each other would not be necessary. Is it true? I bet you guys will tell me to just take everything and be sure... but my Skype log is almost 300 pages long and would be kinda nice not having to print and carry stuff they'll just glance or not even look <_<

Best thing you can do is create a list and crossed the steps and documents done..

My Fiancee took skype conversations, we had a lot too but she printed enough, different dates, emails, phone records and made a photo album including our engagement, pics of me with her family in both trips. Embassy has the first package with all the information you guys send, but i would bring it just in case. Even if they only glance at it, is best to do the extra work and than regret for missing something.

A few questions for those of you that have finished the interview...

What did you put down as the answer to the last question (question 11) on the I-134 form? It's the question that asks about making specific contributions to the person you are sponsoring.

Also, for the supporting documentation for the I-134 (tax transcripts, employer letter, bank statements, etc.), are these submitted along with the form, or do you just bring them as backup in case they are asked for? Do you need more than one copy?

Final question...just want to confirm that we bring all of the required documents with us to the interview and that there aren't any documents that we're supposed to submit to the embassy ahead of of time (we've already received our interview date).

I realize that a lot of this stuff is covered in the forums...just want to clear everything up for peace of mind.

Thanks very much!

P.S. my fiancee is from BH/MG and her 'R's sound very beautiful, but they definitely do not sound American =)

Sorry I don't know about your questions NyDan, but thank you for clarifying the "r" thing, I imagined they would sound more alike! So all brazilian "r"s must sound beautiful and aluring out there ;)

Question 11: All expenses including, but not limited to her visa expenses, airline tickets, costs to come to USA, domestic travel, lodging, boarding, food, incidental expenses and medical insurance.

Supporting Documents: I personally presented all the following documents contrary to popular believed: Last two years of tax returns with W2 Forms [you only need the most recent one]; Letters from my banks certifying account, current deposit, year open; Employment verification letter with date of employment, current position and salary. All these forms are submitted along with the I-134 the day of the interview.
