Hey that's great news... Any news on the rest of it?

We are currently getting our taxes amended. For the last three years we were told (by the person who did our taxes) that I could not file because I didn't have an SSN. I called H&R Block and they told me that I could file them with an ITIN and have the last three years revised. Once we get this done, I am scheduling the medical and we are then mailing the paperwork. I am worried about a few things, like having been here for so long, or having married 6 months after my entry, but I think (or hope) that we should be ok. I try to not get my hopes up too much, just in case.

11/03/10 ------- AoS (I-130/I-485) Package mailed out (Priority Mail)

11/07/10 ------- AoS Package received and singed for

11/10/10 ------- NOA1 received for I-130, I-485 and I-765 (emails)

11/12/10 ------- NOA1 received for I-130, I-485 and I-765 (hard copies)

11/12/10 ------- Touches on I-130, I-485 and I-765

11/19/10 ------- Biometrics appointment letter received

12/06/10 ------- RFE for I-693 (I think the issue is that it was not signed. Called USCIS and will receive a letter in a few days explaining)

12/13/10 ------- Biometrics done

12/16/10 ------- EAD card in production (email)

12/20/10 ------- Received "Letter of Explanation" for RFE (Service Request to expedite my case. Called USCIS and was told to ignore that and just send in response to RFE.)

12/22/10 ------- Touch (Email for Post Decision Activity on EAD saying that a letter of approval has been mailed out)

12/24/10 ------- Received EAD in the mail

12/27/10 ------- Applied for SSN

12/31/10 ------- Received Interview letter

01/03/11 ------- Received SSN card in the mail

01/07/11 ------- Mailed out response to RFE (I-693)

01/15/11 ------- Email confirming USCIS received RFE response

Yeah, still not sure what you're driving at and not really sure I wanna get into it.

I came here because Yahoo answer seemed to be nothing but trolls telling everyone they're ####*d and need to get back to their own country. I thought that was very rude.

I know that this is a very old discussion, but I figured I would let the suspense end.

I used my birth certificate with my Social Insurance Card (the old one with a signature on the back).

And received my passport a few weeks ago. :-)

Well, seems like I'm proper ####*d. I cannot get a passport and the only ID I have is my birth certificate and an expired picture ID (health card).

I know that they require a picture ID at the biometrics appointment. Can they accept the one I showed at CBP? Even if it is expired? Can I get anything else? I know State ID is out of the question...

Probably not advice you want to be giving people on this board. Yes, it's true, they usually forgive overstays. But that does not mean they are not going to be thoroughly questioned about it. Kittyfang has been here in the US for a really long time and if I were the US government, I'd like to understand what she's been up to for all these years. Most people, even in an overstay situation, get married and file AOS right afterwards. Kittyfang has been married for a sufficient amount of time without filing for anything. I'm also confused as to your tax situation. Why would you amend your tax returns for the past three years if you had no income? I would just be very careful about doing that and AOS at the same time. It looks, in my opinion, very odd.

In a way, Kittyfang, I feel sorry for you. I get the feeling that you are a younger person and the choices you have made have pigeonholed you into a lifestyle that can't be very nice. I understand that you guys don't have a lot of money and it's quite possible that you are bored to tears. I did it for 9 months and wanted to scratch my eyes out. I was relieved to have some sort of life again once I was legal and got to work. I couldn't imagine being..well..home all day for this amount of time.
