and those who did get Vista and regret it! Vista came installed on my laptop and I have been counting down the days to when I can get rid of this piece of junk OS - it has been nothing but trouble from the beginning and even worse since the last automatic update in September. Looking forward to uninstalling vista and installing WIndows 7.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Waiting for the Google operating system coming in a couple weeks. I have slowly unattached myself from Microsoft and Adobe. MS Office was the first to go when I switched to Open Office and Thunderbird. Then GIMP replaced Photoshop and PRIMO replaced Acrobat. Last big piece is replacing this crappy VISTA!

Windows SUCKS period, it's just a cheap copy of leopard. Not to worry let's see how Apple blows Microsoft's mind when they release their new OS so Microsoft can start working on something new to release in 2020

Are they giving them out free down there? trying to lift up the disadvantaged.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Well if you preordered the upgrade for $49 a few months back, you didn't need to camp out to pay $99.

I heard every Australian citizen got a copy free.

Just received my two windows 7 ultimate 64-bit copies today. Not to mention a home 32 bit version for my Dell mini.

I never had any problems with my Vista ultimate 64 bit anyway.

Did you install it yet? Are you going to do a clean install or upgrade install? Post your experience when you get a chance.

Nah not yet. I have to back my stuff up. I always do a clean install.

In the past upgrades have caused al sorts of problems. However, I have read that windows 7 does a good job upgrading from Vista.

I'm interested in hearing how it goes, how long it takes to install, any driver problems etc.

I'll tell you how it goes. I tested the beta version on the PC before and it had no issues.

Thanks. How does that work installing on a RAID setup? Does the OS go on one drive only? I still need to read up on RAID.

Did anyone camp out waiting to get their copy?

Yes, I camped out, in front of the Apple Store, buying a new 27" killer iMac. WinBlows, no matter how much lipstick they put on it!

It is ALWAYS better to do a CLEAN install of windows. Never do the upgrade!

Maw, thanks for the newsflash, but folks have known this for years about Vista. Are you a bit slow tonight?

Vista has worked extremely well for me....Perhaps it's that your machine can't handle it.

Exactly right. First machine I built that ran Vista 32 crashed every 2 hours. Second and now the latest using vista 64-bit have not crashed once and make XP look like Windows 3.1.

I prefer vista ultimate over my wife's mac.

Edit: Last time I switched my Vista machine off was three weeks ago, by accident. I use Orb to stream. I use media center to watch TV. I use it as an extender to the 360 and I also use it to VPN from work. To get around net policies. I would like to see our IT guys hack 256 bit AES encryption.
