Brazil Specific: Interview Location in Brazil?

I'm at my NOA2 and just talked to the NVC. They said within a week they will forward the application to the embassy in Rio De Janeiro. My fiance lives in Sao Paulo, and I assumed she would be able to get an interview there since her tourist visa interview was in Sao Paulo. Has everyone in this forum who is applying in Brazil had to go to Rio?

Thanks,

Drew

consulate-specific - moving to Embassy and Consulate Discussion (you may wish to post in the appropriate regional subforum as well)

Improved USCIS Form G-325A (Biographic Information)

Form field input font changed to allow entry of dates in the specified format and to provide more space for addresses and employment history. This is the 6/12/09 version of the form; the current version is 8/8/11, but previous versions are accepted per the USCIS forms page.

The only place "K" visas are issued are at consulates with a immigrant visa (IV) unit. In Brazil the only consulate with an IV is Rio.. Sao Paul only has a non-immigrant visa unit (NIV) so cannot be done there

Yes, this is correct. All fiance visas are done in Rio. We had the same question and thought we could go to Brasilia, but no luck. Congratulations on your approval, and good luck with the rest of the process. If you have questions about the medical or interview I would be happy to help. Tambem falo portugues. :)

The interview was a non event, other than the long wait, but then I had been working in Brasil for almost 2 years.

We stayed at the Hotel in the Rio Airport, taxi to the embassy.

The churrascaria next door to the embassy is a good place for lunch.

DREW.

All K1 visas are process in Rio, I didn't have an option when completing my forms.

This may help you with the process ---

My fiancee's process is as follow:

I submitted petition I-129F [uSCIS] on June 16, 2009 received confirmation from USCIS on June 22nd. 3 months later received the approval from NVC informing me that case will be fowarded to Rio de Janeiro.. Now, this is the trick here and we learned this with my fiancee..

The NVC is going to issue a new case number starting with RDJ which is your new case ID for your interview. If you have this case you can skip the process/mailing of your package 3 and 4.. Simple to do..

You call NVC and request to get your RDJ #, if you already have it then sent an email to the embassy in rio ImmigrationRio@state.gov with the following information..

Boa Noite,

GOSTARIA DE SABER A DATA DA MINHA ENTREVISTA NO RIO DE JANEIRO:

PETICIONARIO: XXXXXX- DOB

BENEFICIARIO: XXXXXX- DOB

PROCESSO APROVADO: DATE - Vermont

CASE NUMBER: RDJXXXXXXXX

Desde já, muito obrigada pela informação.

The emabassy will reply really fast [2 days tops] with the date of your fiancee's interview.. We did this and a about a week and half later we got letter from the embassy but we already had our interview date and schedule by the embassy.

Hope this help

Anyone know if you can change the interview date that that Rio consulate assigns or is it set in stone?

thanks!

Thanks for the help everyone!

I would also like to follow up on the question above. My fiance is in school now, and if the interview is set in the next month there's a good chance she'll have a test or project that she can't miss. Is this interview possible to reschedule?
