You poor poor soul. Must pain you to drive that. I got the A8 with the w12 engine package.

As an Aussie, were not exactly into cars. Cars don't define us.

However, you may want to check out the price of a 750i that my old man drives. Price starts with 2 and is six digits.

You're so full of sh!t it's not even funny. A brand new, limited edition is is only $96k and that is with every single option available. Try again criminal.

Wrong yet again. We pay taxes there, hence why we win awards and are not bankrupt. We don't allow fuckwits to buy cheap things, yet rely on illegal aliens an let the rest of the country remain dirt poor.

You are right regarding the price here though. Wow they get ripped there. However, they can afford it, so it evens itself out.

But BMW has to make up the price to compensate for the possibility of getting ripped off by a potential criminal. You are all descended from them after all, and according to your logic, they would have a much higher propensity to commit a crime. I wonder if the Indian immigrants, who don't have such a high risk to commit crimes have to pay the same prices :jest:

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Strange coincidence that the top 10 grossing nations in the world all have higher taxes. They also coincidentally have a much higher standard of living for all.

There are countries that have similar repub low / no tax polices. They just happen to be third world countries.

Well thank goodness Obama isn't taking over the entire health care system then.

Hes not and I never claimed that and what I am addressing here has nothing to do with that!!! This wasnt not about healthcare here in the states and people keep jumping in trying to make it about that.

Chill man. Have a piña colada or something.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

And guess what? I know no poor Republicans. Is it a coincidence?

Yeah, i used to think the same thing... and then we moved.

There are many working poor or just poor "Republican" "Conservative" people, but you know what is sad?

Some of them don't even realize that Medicaid and Food Stamps are government programs. I'm not kidding.

And even more confusing to me, is that they don't want anything to change to perhaps better their situations.

It is truly a puzzling phenomenon.

If they realized it AND thought about it a bit more logically, they'd probably have an identity crisis if they insisted on sticking to their same ideals.

Well, getting back to topic...

i just don't understand how anyone can defend these banker execs accepting government (taxpayer) funds, and then using it for exorbitant bonuses. Me neither, i don't think that the government should be able to dictate salaries in private enterprise, but this is not a typical situation. Those big banks took the bail out money that we, as taxpayers are providing... they should be using it to fix the industry and create jobs... not fuel executive bonuses.

I agree with government programs to invest in the poor. To get them on their feet. That is what most 21st century civilized first world countries do. The recipients has to meet us half way though. They should not just live on welfare, while I work 40+ hours a week. Time to invest in the poor but they have to sign an agreement, as they do in Aus, to show they understand this is not free money but a means to get them on their feet; provided by the American tax payer. While unemployment benefits have no time limit in Aus, you have to search for 14 jobs every 2 weeks.

However, what I would never accept is having to work my azz off to pay for more and more illegal aliens to enter the country. To expect everyone else in the country to fund illegal aliens, people who enter at their own leisure, is immoral. If I found out my hard earn money is going to them, I'll pack up and leave. #### that for a joke.

Agreed, what is tragic is to see generations of folks living off gov assistance to the point that it seems normal.

Does anyone remember that Diane Sawyer episode about poverty in Appalachia...? Regardless of it being a good documentary or not, realistic or not, one thing that struck me was an interview with a young girl who talked about food stamps as if it were the same as actual money. Like it was normal... like everyone used food stamps to buy food...

How do we even begin to fix a problem like that?

Take that! You shouldn't have increased the interest rates, and your shouldn't double the withdrawel fees. And, you shouldn't have gave yourselves bonuses after taking money from taxpayers.

So, what you're saying is.. let's loan this company lots of money to save themselves, then let's cut the pay offered to prospective and/or current employees of that company charged with recouping and paying back that money. A strategy that will only work to drive the talented ones away to seek other, better paying jobs, leaving behind the hacks to run the company. A virtual guarantee that the money will never be paid back.

Your statement above epitomizes "penny-wise, pound-foolish". Why don't you think before you write this drivel?

Yo! "penny-wise, pound-foolish"... Those getting the bonus' are also the ones that screwed up. So shouldn't we be excited if this 'top talent' takes off? How clueless can you be?

How do we even begin to fix a problem like that?

I saw that and it was embarrassing. How can anyone say country first when they don't give a #### about their own people? After all, it's written in ink on hemp paper, "We the people". Not we the lobbyist, we the corporation or we the special interest group.

After 6 months of being here I realized quick-smart that the rich are raping the country and fooling people to think shareholders and bankers deserve the money. All while a nurse, a teacher, a social worker, public servants etc got what they deserved: peanuts. I hated the high taxes and socially driven society when I left Australia. i argued with my old man about it all the time. Now that I have seen both systems, I'll take paying 10 to 20 percent more on everything any day than have Australia end up like this. At least no Australian has to work more than one full-time job to make ends meet. At least no Australian is left for dead or stepped on, at their lowest moments. Aussie Aussie Aussie means more than a slogan to us, it means we look out for one another. We are the crutch for the weak.

I am sure many here will try find a disadvantaged area there and use it to defend the status quo here. In reality poverty is the exception there, not the norm. Furthermore, the poor are not as poor and have a chance to get on their feet. They're not left for dead. It's why a 750Li costs close to $280K there but $90K here. My old man has cash so he can afford it. If he wanted to, he could invest here and become even more wealthier, however, on moral grounds he refuses to do so. Heck he refuses to visit. If it was not for Australia's generosity and compassion, he would not be where he is.

There ARE a LOT of people who live off the system. But I think the system allows them to do this, which is why it should be changed. When my ex disappeared and I was left with two babies and little income, I went to see if I could get help paying for childcare so that I could work and finish my college degree. Well, basically what I learned that day is that you have to either be homeless or a drug addict to get help with anything. They told me to drop out of school and that even with that I made too much money per week to qualify ($200!!) I don't know anyone who can pay their rent, take care of two children with $200 a week.

So.... they should probably reward the people who TRY to better themselves.

And illegal aliens are not eligible for any type of assistance from the government. They can not be turned down medical care in the hospitals, but they cannot collect public assistance or food stamps. So, I wouldn't worry bout that. Plus statistics show that since the economic crisis more and more are leaving the country. I see it here, in an area where there used to be a lot of illegal aliens, and now there aren't too many. Unfortunately the people who abuse the system are full fledged citizens. And it's our government's fault they can abuse the system.
