My local U.S. embassy requires police certificates from all places that beneficiary has resided for more than a year since the age of 16. I am now in China but has spent the past several years in the states. The U.S. police department of the area that I used to live in said that they could send me a letter of good conduct? Will this letter fulfill the police certificate requirement?

Thanks!

well, in my home country, the two are considered the same, they just name them differently. But basically, they are the same thing. I am not sure if it's the same over there, but I think it shouldn't be a problem at all.

You don't need a police certificate from the U.S. They already have access to all of that information.

K1: 01/15/2009 (mailed I-129F) - 06/23/2009 (visa received)

AOS: 08/08/2009 (mailed I-485, I-765, & I-131) - 10/29/2009 (received GC)

Hello FattieLittleSlug

A Police Certificate from the USA is not required for petitions adjudicated at GUZ.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Hello FattieLittleSlug

A Police Certificate from the USA is not required for petitions adjudicated at GUZ.

 Nor at any other US embassy or consulate. The beneficiary will be checked for a US criminal record at every stage of the K-1 process: USCIS and NVC (name checks), and the consulate (name and fingerprints).

Police certificate questions belong in the Embassy and Consulate Discussion forum - moving there...

Improved USCIS Form G-325A (Biographic Information)

Form field input font changed to allow entry of dates in the specified format and to provide more space for addresses and employment history. This is the 6/12/09 version of the form; the current version is 8/8/11, but previous versions are accepted per the USCIS forms page.
