Whats going on in N. Dakota?

I've always believed people have an obligation to "find work" rather than wait for the work to come to them.

This is one of the greatest problems with welfare, it keeps people stuck in dead-end areas.

I can tell you one thing, I'd have to drag my wife to a place as cold as N. dakota gets.

she hates the cold.

Maybe I will pitch the idea to her tonight like I am serious about checking out that area... lets see how she does.

You are truly out of touch Almaty, have you taken a look around and opened your eyes at what has happened to this economy in the past 12 months? There are a lot of people not making any money now or earning less than before and working more or laid off and no more job period. Things are very unstable. I just cannot believe you are that out of touch, come on you are better than this. Can you honestly sit here and say you do not know anyone that has not been severely affected by this economy? That is such a shallow arrogant silly statement to say to all these people that have been laid off from their job for things they had no control over, and your answer is "if you want a job, take effort and work and have bit of luck" . Wow, come on think about what you just said it is totally out of touch with reality in this economy and out right offensive to people that go to look for a job each and every day and cannot find one. Face it the messiah did not have a solution or answer to this bad economy and it has only gotten worse. So to try and turn it around and blame workers for their own plight that was beyond their control is ludicrous!

Almaty, those people are potential consumers or customers, they need to work and earn money to buy and pay for things that we others produce or sell. Hello...............it makes the economy stable and go!

Good thing we bailed out Wall Street, at least they still have jobs and are making money.

Actually they are still laying people off too. I have a theory. Lots of companies that even did fairly well through the recession made major layoffs. Employees are a company's biggest expense. Lay a bunch off with the 'excuse' of the financial crisis and your bottom line looks a lot nicer for your investors.

It only makes sense... the company that I used to work for did better sales in '08 than in '07 and still laid off a ton of people, stopped contributing to our 401Ks and stopped providing health insurance for part timers. I've heard that '09 is going to be a SUPER year for them.

Sadly this is true, and it is not good, for all those people laid off would have earned money and spent it on consuming and buying things, but not now.

To me the unfortunate part of this topic is, the "best and the brightest" Obama could come up with formulated a plan to borrow massive amounts of money from China to jump start our economy.. and not only do we fail to see any results, I for one don't even see where the money went.

Had me fooled.... I thought all this infrastructure improvement was going to be going on all around us.

One of the best ways to see if there is anything going on is to just look at the "want-ads" every few days.

See what areas are nearly void of ads and see which ones aren't.

To me this is the first indicator of improvement.... when small business hires wage workers.
