How long did your K1 visa take?

I've sent my G-325A form to my fiance, who should hopefully receive it by the end of this week. Complete his part and send the application off by the end of the month.

Can you please tell me how long it took for your K1 to complete? And those who are waiting, how long has it been since the application was sent off?

I would really like to be in the US by the beginning of September 2006 as we are planning our wedding for around then.

It really depends on your Service Center, among other things.

It took 5 months from filing date to interview for us.

You can do a timeline search, click Immigration Timelines up above in the blue bar, that should give you a rough estimate.

Texas sends theres to Cali. If they are as slow as they have been it could take anywhere from 3months-6 months for your NOA2.

It's impossible for anyone to give you a single, objective answer. Consult the timelines not only for the service centre through which your petition willl be filed, but the consulate through which you'll make your visa application.

Those answers added up will give you a rough, your-mileage-may-vary estimate of how long you can expect the process to take. And you'll need to add on time for background checks (which are done at every level and can take days, weeks, or months), the transit time between service center and National Visa Center, transit time between National Visa Center and consulate, time for obtaining paperwork like birth or police certificates, time for having a medical exam... et al.

My particular process was exactly five months from beginning (mailing the I-129F petition to Vermont) to end (Ewen's receipt of his passport with visa after a successful interview in London).

Our standard K1 filing with no RFE's and no known delays took 240 days from the date of filing to the day of the interview. Too long in my opinion.

We started our process in the first week of october 05, i got my interview on january 11th and the visa the same day. We went through the vermont service centre. Would have been a month earlier only for i had a problem obtaining the police certificate. It varied from the different service centers. I had the interview in dublin, ireland where we both live.

Hi Sacha,

I went through TSC that got transfer to CSC, same as you guys. From NOA1 to interview date, it took us 149 days. This is going through the U.S. Embassy in Bogotá, Colombia. But like other member have stated no two petition are the same. I wish your fiancé and you a speedy journey.

Claudeth's took about 5 months but 1 month of that was to do with a screw up on the translation of the German police clearance so it should have only been four months.

If I recall correctly DR is notoriously hard to go through. The wait for the interview alone is months (correct me if I am wrong anyone). Plus all the time it takes to get up to the embassy part of the process. Good Luck.

As for the OP's question...I agree it varies by service center and what country you are going through.

We went through Nebraska and the Kingston, Jamaica Embassy in a little over 6 months plus we were issued a 221g which held us up for quite a while.

Also to the person going through DR. There is a couple on here (username Jackal411) that has been waiting since July 2005 for an interview date and they are hoping that it will come before the end of 2006 but they don't even know. Be prepared for a long wait. Sorry
