We got an email on July 15th saying we would receive a Welcome Notice, assumed this meant we were approved. Now today we got an email saying an Approval Notice has been mailed....is this the green card? Thanks.

Congratulations! This means your Green Card is approved! The Welcome Letter and Approval Notice are one in the same. You should receive an additional status update once your card is ordered and sent out. It took us about 3 weeks from approval to get the card.

yes thats your approval i received the same emails and i got my green card in the mail before i actually got the approval notice

it only took about 5 days for my green card to arrive after the emails

The OP is asking if the "approval notice" equates to the mailing of a green card, not if he has been approved.

No, not as far as my experience has shown.

Like you, we received two emails, One for I-485 "a welcome notice was mailed for this case" and I-130 "an approval notice was mailed". They were exactly what was stated (both received on Monday), a "welcome to America" letter and an approval notice.

For the actual green card, again, from our experience, you receive another email stating "a new card has been mailed... etc...etc..". When this will be isn't an exact science, but hopefully in a few weeks.

25 March 2006 - Mailed AOS package to Chicago! (I-485, EAD, AP)

28 March 2006 - AOS package recieved (day 1)

4 April 2006 - I-130, I-765 (EAD) NOA date by USCIS. NO AP, yet. (day 7)

6 April 2006 - Checks cashed (NOT AP)

7 April 2006 - I-130, I-765 NOA's recieved in mail! (day 10)

10 April 2006 - I-131 (AP) RETURNED. Should have mailed it to Nebraska Service Center <confused> (originally sent it to Chicago Lockbox with AOS..) (day 13)

11 April 2006 - I-131 mailed to Nebraska as requested (day 14)

14 April 2006 - Bio appt letter in mail (day 17)

17 April 2006 - I-131 (AP) NOA1 received(day 20)

2 May 2006 - Biometrics completed I-485 and I-765 (day 35)

9 May 2006 - I-131 (AP) RFE email recieved, RFE request by USCIS. (day 42)

13 May 2006 - RFE Recieved, missed a bunch of stuff? (day 46)

29 June 2006 - Interim EAD success in Denver DO.

13 June 2006 - Interview. "not concrete approved", received two emails later same day approving I-485 and I-130. "welcome notice was mailed" and "approval notice was mailed"

17 July - I-485 Welcome notice received and I-130 approval received

18 July - I-485 "after approving your application, we ordered you a new card" email received.

24 July - GREEN CARD RECEIVED! All info correct. Apply to lift conditions 7/13/08

As an update, in our case the approval notice did = the green card. My husband received his approval notice on July 20th and today in the mail he got his permanent resident card!!!! :dance: We are happy to be done and thankful it went so smoothly!!! No interview and 4 months since we applied. Good luck to all that are still waiting and thank you for all the help!!

As an aside, we never received the "a card has been ordered" email or update on the USCIS website.

Yes! That means they already mailed your GC. I got my GC within 3 business days after my case status changed saying an approval noticed has been mailed. Congrats! :dance:
