You see that 'similar topics' thing @ the bottom of the screen? If a thread is over a certain length of time, perhaps there's a way to not include it in that search. Cos old threads get bumped pretty easily that way, I know I've clicked on one or two of them and read it, and almost posted, until I saw the dates. I'm sure it contributes to old threads being bumped.

That way, there's less thread bumping, and also less need for the 'say one more negative thing in this really old thread and I'll just lock it' bollocks.
