So, my case will be completed for a CR-1 visa at the NVC soon. My wife will be interviewing at Abu Dhabi, and we were hoping for a December interview. However, it's come to my attention that there are people whose CR-1s were approved prior to mine (Armin and sama) who have still not received an interview date from the Abu Dhabi embassy. I find this strange, since the NVC staff with whom I've spoken have said the Abu Dhabi embassy is never very busy.

I have sent the embassy two e-mails and even tried calling them: no one answered e-mails, and no one picked up the phone. (So much for the customer service promise.) I'm getting in touch with my Senator now because I really want to know what the heck is going on, and if I should have my case transferred elsewhere, because I really need a December interview.

Before I do this, though, I wanted to ask other VJ members with Abu Dhabi cases--are any of you getting CR-1 interviews? If so, when were you approved, and when were you scheduled? I know that as of May 2009, there was no backlog at Abu Dhabi for CR-1s, judging by the timelines of a few VJers who were scheduled for Abu Dhabi in April.

Please post if you have any information on this. I'm getting pretty desperate, because a November/December interview was pretty essential to my academic and financial stability. If it's impossible to get a Dec. interview then I need to start taking some action now. Thanks!

I got an interview date for K1, but any way I answer back since I believe getting an interview date is getting an interview date no matter what the case is:

Yes, they are quite busy because they not only handle cases of Emitates, they hold cases of Iranians also.

They are recently giving interview dates for next 3 months. I never tried calling them but I sent them 5 e-mails and I recieved their replies in two working days. Please note that they are closed Friday and Saturday.

They gave me interview date 1 month after NVC sent my file to them. NVC kept telling me that they got the file while they kept saying that they didn't get that... I was getting so worried that I learned they just answer that way to get rid of callers and their answer cannot be true so I tried calling the Department of State instead (before 5pm: 202-663-1225 press 1 then 0) to find out my interview date.

Hello!

I was interviewed in Abu Dhabi last June 25 with K-1 Visa but I guess the process would still be similar or the same . Check first with the NVC for the status because they will then forward the papers. I would say for my case they are very fast and very accomodating. I even encountered big problem but they just told me to bring it once I have it for which they told me just bring it and will proceed with your application. Believe me when I give them the docs that they asked they get my passport and after a week I pck it up in the embassy. Just remember if you dont have a case number they will not enteretain you. Beside from Sunday to Thursday they only accept calls between 3 to 4pm if I remember it correctly. They are very accomodating and they reply in the email after two days.

Is that my issue? Do I just need to include my case number when I e-mail them?

If you have the case number you may email them or call them. In my case they send a letter to my fiancee from Abu dhabi USembassy and might case number not even in there posted bulletin in the site but when I inquire them they told me to be there. But I think you need to ask the NVC for the status. Did they already forwad it to Abu Dahabi as you think.

processing time for CR-1. K-3, K1 is different and it may take little bit long for the CR-1 applicant to receive his/her interview date. friend of mine took about 2 months to receive CR-1 appointment.

but is different case to case and it depends how much processing they have to do.

I agree that including your case number is vital to getting a productive response from the Embassy. I am not sure if they answer the phones, but they do answer e-mails eventually. You could also try faxing them also. Fax is: 971-(2)-414-2241. Good luck with your journey!

We just found out today that my son and his fiancess's paperwork was forwarded from NVC to Abu Dhabi on Oct 21st and they now have a NVC case number. We still don't know if the embassy has received the paperwork yet so we haven't even considered an interview date yet.

How will we know the embassy has everything?

I would like to wish the OP luck and I hope they get the interview in December as they wish.

I was never been able to get through to the Abu Dhabi embassy via telephone, even during their "call time" for immigrant visas, which is 3pm-4pm Sun-Thurs. I have also never received any response to emails sent to them, even though they advertise that emails are responded to in 2-7 days. When I call, I get the recording. I finally pressed "0" instead of going into their automated phone message maze, and was eventually transferred by an operator to a visa staff person. Our visas were approved on September 17, 2009 by the USCIS, and our appointment was scheduled for January 2010. What are other Abu Dhabi applicant's timelines looking like?

Verde--thanks for your response! I know that Armin hasn't received an interview date, and neither has sama. Armin was August (although he has a December K3 interview) and sama was an October approval. I am trying my hardest to get a November or December interview--January or later would be REALLY difficult for me. I've already gotten in touch with my Senator to see what I can do. I know there are people trying to push their interviews back, so I just want to try my damndest to push my interview up. But at least now I know SOMEONE is getting scheduled.

How did you find out about your interview? Did they tell you on the line? I'm going to try calling them and doing what you did. God, I wish my case was complete! This process is KILLING me.

Ney--Thank you for your well-wishes. Drop them an e-mail with your NVC number in it, and ask them--might be you'll get a response!

Our applications were approved on 09/17/09, and our file has not yet been forwarded to the Embassy - but an interview has been scheduled for January 10, 2009. That packet was mailed to my husband's US agent last week. I confirmed this with the Embassy (the appointment date) - but they also stated they had not received the file from the NVC.

Now I can't get through to anyone at the Embassy and feel pretty helpless and hopeless. An Embassy rep told us she would get back to us today (business days are Sunday-Thursday in the UAE), but she did not get back to us.

Now this is bugging me:

CHECK VISA STATUS

Hello!

Do not worry it happened to me. I have the copy of the interview date in Abu Dhabi but when I check in the embassy status online in the site I am not listed also and when I inquire from the embassy in Abu Dhabi , they told me to check again with them or in the site as no advise as long as you have it by 3rd week of November check again or next month. My interview in Abu Dhabi is ok although the problem I encounter is when they asked for my the NBI what i bring is th current UAE Police clearance as I am been away in the Philippines for more than a year that its impossible for me to use th one I have. It's a very tragic moment to me because she told me the ( the officer interview me) as I explained what I have here a Dubai Police clearance she would not accept it but told me I want this copy (NBI)and when you have it just bring it and will process your paper . I was in the final stage, my passport is with her and she returned it to me. Good luck in your interview. After I get my NBI after a week they get my passport and thanks God the next week I Have it with the visa. If the interview goes well they get your passport and the next week you pick up the passport.

So cheer up nothing to worry .
