But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

He does sound like quite the charmer A.J ;)

People either love him or hate him. It's all very high-school like.

I can imagine. I have worked in companies like that.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Generally, the ones that are complaining are the ones that gets paid the lowest. And, the ones that brags are the ones that live at work. The ones who are silent, are the ones who don't care what goes on the workplace.

I have a rule. I don't socialize with any of my co-workers on a personal basis. I keep everything professional. They invite me to social gathering, I don't participate. If I do go, I will be careful to keep a low profile and remain professional.

Your response is relevant, how?

I hate to socialize with people in the workplace.

I think the appropriate question would be : "who reported the comment to HR?". If the cafeteria lady did, then she might have actually been offended. If it was someone else who heard it, or heard it second hand, then they are probably just a douche and after his job.

since when does being offended merit discipline? I think if he was consitently making comments like this to her and knew that it bothered her you might be able to make a case for harassment.

I agree. If a man makes repeated sexist remarks towards one woman or a group of women, he doesn't belong in a position of authority. Even if he thinks he's being jokey.

A senior manager who's worked here for decades, who's daddy worked here all his life... recently cracked a joke at a lady who works in our cafeteria saying she looks just like Sonia Sotomayor. Saying she could be SCOTUS justice too, looking like that.

Water cooler rumor is that it's gone all the way to HR.

Of course it's racist as he's speaking to a minority. Only they can focus on race as they are the only two races in the world. Did you not get the memo?

Just the other day I heard someone say in private and out of the office, that an individual was fired at their mom's workplace and the first thing they claimed was, "you are firing me because I am black". Just another similar case I heard about from others now. Not hearsay or anecdotal opinions but cases directly involving people I have spoken to.

Why is that racist? Or is it offensive to Latinos to suggest they look like someone smart?

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

How the hell is that racist? Saying someone looks like someone else or a SCOTUS justice? Weak, more the reason why affirmative action has to go and any other racial feel sorry for me laws, no wonder the USA is falling further behind the rest of the world, and no wonder the USA is perceived as being weak and soft. You people do not get it.

Well calling him a WASP is racist? So you think it is ok for you to say that but not for him to say what he says. Sadly it is people like you that twist the intent of laws and use them for your own personal gain to push an agenda or to get a job or a job promotion when you clearly do not merit it, the more people abuse these affirmative action rules like you advocate, the more there is going to be backlash and removal of such programs and laws it is only a matter of time before numerous white people that keep getting discriminated against and having racist attitudes like yours used against them that they will no doubt lobby to have laws passed to benefit them. Just watch and see what happens.

If the senior manager is Hispanic, then no, IMO, it's not racist.

However, if HE is caucasian, ya, he might have a problem or two, depending on how literal the HR department is , in interpreting the laws.

He's our departments golden boy. As WASPy as they get.
