I did look at that thread but I didn't really remember the original story or really know what was going on so I didn't comment..

and I don't think the guy in this thread is a racist.. he is just an A$$...

If the guy had a history of being racist or had been cautioned before, that would be a different story and I would understand him being written up. However, to get someone fired just because A.J does not like them, and labels them a WASP, is not acceptable.

I dont find it racist, I think he was just trying to be funny, this doesnt mean he isnt a racist, I dont know the guy but to think he was trying to complement her seems like quite the stretch to me.

As far as double standards that exist on the topic of racism I truly believe that it exists and I cant even begin to tell you how sick of it I am.

who said anything about fired? and I might be wrong but AJ just heard this story.. I don't think he was the one who reported it... I am assuming it was the cafeteria lady who reported it to HR , if it was reported.. and don't think AJ has a whole lot of say on who gets fired etc anyways..lol

What it comes down to is what is being racist? I think you will find this meaning varies from country to country, not to mention in the oxford dictionary. KKK is racist, Hitler was racist, those who supported segregation 50 years ago were racist etc. Nowadays the simple mention of minority by someone white is racist period. Prior to moving here, I never felt I had to walk on eggshells. What I have a problem with is the double standards. Complement minorities based on race = awesome. Illuminate a negative aspect of a community = racist.

If this guy was "looking down upon" the cafeteria lady by saying she'd never be qualified to be on the SCOTUS since she's a lunch lady but only because she looks similar to another member of SCOTUS, then he's prejudiced against her class, not her race.

As a matter of fact, race had absolutely nothing to do with it. Just like race had absolutely nothing to do with Obama appointing Sotomayor in the first place. He didn't appoint her based on her race. He appointed her based on her class. She came from nothing and "made herself" into something.... just like he did! How inspiring! That's the hope and change we need in this country!
