A US man is facing a charge of indecent exposure - after failing to get dressed before making himself a morning cup of coffee in his own kitchen.

A passer-by spotted Eric Williamson, 29, through his kitchen window in Springfield, Virginia, at 5.30am and reported him to the police.

Mr Williamson, a driver, from Hawaii, says none of his roommates were at home at the time, reports Fox News.

"Yes, I wasn't wearing any clothes but I was alone, in my own home and just got out of bed. It was dark and I had no idea anyone was outside looking in at me," he said.

The complaint came from an unidentified woman who was walking with a seven-year-old boy at the time.

A police spokesman said officers arrested Williamson because they believe he wanted to be seen naked by the public.

But Mr Williamson, the father of a five-year old girl, complained: "I am a loving dad. Any of my friends and anyone knows that and there is not a chance on this planet I would ever, ever, ever do anything like that to a kid."

Williamson faces up to a year in jail and a $2,000 fine, if convicted. He plans to fight the charge and says he may sue local police.

Come and arrest me....I hardly ever wear clothes in my house.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I think clothes are silly.

a waste of money, too.

The woman who reported him is so silly. Seriously? How do you report someone for being naked in their own house! If it was a continual problem then maybe, or maybe you could knock on the door one day when you are not with your 7 year old kid and make the man aware that you can see him naked. But one time you walk by someones house and see them naked? Then you want them to be arrested? Crazy.

And I agree, clothes suck

In the US, it's not a crime for a woman to peek at a naked man in his home, but if a man peeked at a woman, he would be arrested and branded a pervert. Double standards. Now I'm going to be afraid to take a shower. If a neighbor peeps thru the window and see's that I am hung like a horse, who knows what will happen.

I enjoy to be naked, both inside my house and outside on the property behind my house.

BUT...

NO ONE CAN SEE ME, in either place - I set it up that way. Fencing in the right places, tree cover in the right places (there's a child care place on one side of my property line ) , reclaimed ships sails covering up other areas on the property line. Ya, I do enjoy to be naked outside :D BUt it's only for tanning purposes - I'm not a nudist, by the regular use of the term -

Good luck to the guy on knocking the charge.. I wonder what the local 'lewdness ordinance' is, for his area? YIKES !
