No drive by post folks, i've been here done that for a long time over here....I'm Canadian, waded through snow up to my waist and froze my feet wearing ####### boots, but no man, ever ever will control me or tell me what to wear or hold my money back because he doesnt "approve" of what I wear...and tell me I look like sh^% wearing it...he's gonna tell me I look beautiful wearing anything or nothing. And thats the short and tall of it in my book....

You still don;t understand. We don't tell them to wear those, they WANT to! That is why we married FSU women and not Canadians! Heck I've got Canadians coming out my ears where I live and its the ones with the sexy French accents, but they wear those boots for wading through snow and hauling frozen water...or whatever. Its the boots baby!

i've had the same boots Alla is wearing in the picture for 3 years. Dima hates them and tells me they look like hooker boots. so i retired them and only brought them out for my slutty santa costume last halloween. guess we all have our own boot preferences. p.s. he finds uggs atrocious as well.

I've never seen fat, lazy college girls wearing those with their PJs. I'm sure those were the ones my wife was talking about. (No doubt they're the $200+ style. Right?) I find it amusing that women attempt to accessorize something as important as winter footwear. In winter, footwear is an operational necessity, not something to reflect your personal style. Whatever money you're going to dedicate to footwear should be used to get more warmth/waterproofness... not more style!

But hey, it's her money, she can spend it on whatever she wants. I'm preparing already for the "my feet are so wet and cold and my boots must be cleaned when we get home." Then again, those boots look pretty rugged so maybe they will be worth the $200+.

Wow! That was like two months ago and you're still mad. Way to hold a grudge while simultaneously perpetuating the stereotype!

.... but at least you get to wear whatever boots you want. Or, at least, whatever boots are acceptable to all your other female friends/relatives/etc., and have nothing to do with actually being attractive as a woman. Don't worry though, your husband HAS TO tell you that you look nice anyway. You're entitled to it! Grrrrrrrlpower!

What you miss, Allie, is the women of this forum (American/Canadian included) actually make their own choice of footwear based on what they desire... not what the other females around them deem appropriate. This is the major misconception of "submissive" women from Eastern Europe, Asia, etc. It's not that they're "submissive" or "subservient" to mens' wishes and desires.... it's that they're free to choose as much or as little male influence as they desire.

You, on the other hand, are not. You're only "free" to choose how long you're not going to talk to your best friend or mom because you got into a spat over what they said about your boots.

Not trying to be snide or rude, but are you really serious?!? I don't see how you think slim (the OP) is controlling of what his wife wears - or her life for that matter - just because he doesn't like the boots his wife wants to purchase (with his money). Am I missing something here?

IMHO, telling your spouse that a pair of boots s/he wants to buy are ugly, is perfectly legit. In fact, I personally like it when my husband tells me when he think something looks hot on me and also when he thinks something doesn't look so hot. His opinion on what I wear really matters a lot because, after all, I want and like looking good for my husband - why would I not?!? I'm sure you like looking great for your SO too...

That said, it doesn't mean I limit myself to only wearing or buying clothes that he likes...Good god, if I always did that, I'd probably have mortified myself 10 times over!!! Being the fashionable lady that I am , I always wear what I love. And if there's a piece he hates (which isn't often), I can usually work it in a way so that he likes it too.

I agree with annasm. What my best friend (who is male) or my sister (who is ten) or my mom (who has completely different ideas about fashion from me) think about my clothes are all moot points to me. It seems like an odd form of misplaced feminism to dismiss what your husband/fiancé thinks just by virtue of their maleness. Girls only!!!

Was in Louisville this weekend with my wife and visited my daughter. What was my daughter wearing? Those ugly boots! My wife asked me later why my daughter was wearing such ugly boots.

Hince the name.l.. UGG boots come from Down under, It is short for UGLY..

I like them but I would not wear them out side just maybe flopping around in the house

You don't understand (because this was obviously a drive-by post). It is part of our screening process to find submissive, maleable women.
