Folks, please stop clogging the board with personal attacks and arguments. Take them offline. Also refrain from bumping useless threads to further the game.

If you don't want to speak with one another then put the other person on ignore and you won't be bothered anymore.

You know, it is this kind of ####### that made me stay away from this board, other than when absolutely necessary. ENOUGH! If you all cannot stop this stupid childish nonsense, then can a Mod come in here and make them stop?

This topic is one I clicked on because I am going to be looking at hotels for our 2010 trip and instead of on-topic posts, it's a bunch of people bitching at each other. Get a life. Give it a rest.

My wife and I go to Saigon mid-January. The first week we are there I really want to stay at a hotel inside district 3 (my parent inlaws are in D3). My wife wants to stay in District 1 because it's the center of everything. There are lots of reasons for wanting a hotel for a week that I won't get into because it's not anyone's business.

For one week we will stay with family. For a third week we will travel.

My hotel requirements are cleanliness, working AC, no bugs, hot water. That week will be the get over jetlag week and also the end of the week we have a wedding to attend and will need a decent place to get ready without sweating. That right there is reason enough for the hotel.

Anyway, my thoughts. I'll gladly read any post that gives recommendations.

Matt,

In Dist 1 I stay at the Elios.. Its a Western style hotel and there is no sweating, very clean and very professional... cost more that a VN style hotel, but reasonable for a western hotel.. 2 blocks from Ben Thanh

ScottThuy, that hotel looks perfect for me, but the wife won't go for it. She wants $35 a night max. When I went to Saigon in 2006 I stayed at a place for one night that was $12 and it was horrific. Then she found me another hotel, the name escapes me right now, and it was $30 a night and perfect for what I needed. All they lacked was a gym. I like to work out. Their rates are higher now, but we are not sure by how much. They are a five minute walk to Anh's parents, so I told her it's perfect, but she wants to be in District 1.

She is so so picky!!! ^_^

I always had good experiences with the Indochine Hotel in Q1. Rates look to be $30+ Here's the link -> http://www.indochinehotel.com/home

Wow, I was gone for the weekend and obviously, I missed the show ... I have posted elsewhere that I stayed at Indochine a few times as well and I liked it.

This is my personal take on this - hear me out. There are thousands and thousands of hotels in Saigon. So asking for a good one is almost impossible. If you stray off the beaten path of Dist 1 and 3, then chances are you might run into a bad hotel but if you stick to hotels in Dist 1, especial around Le Thanh Ton, Le Loi, Dong Khoi, Hai Ba Trung, then it is almost certain that you get your money worth. I love trying out hotels. During a typical 3-week trip to VN, my wife and I usually stay at 2 to 3 different hotels ... just for fun. So, don't sweat it ... Just rent one and if you don't like, go to another one ... I think its fun :)

I used to be indecisive. Now I am just not sure ...
