So i sent in my packet on Tues October 13th, 2009. According to the tracking info from USPS they received it on Saturday October 17th. Am I just being paranoid or does it take this long? I mean i guess cuz im going by peoples timelines an seen that they have received theirs in like 5 days or even less. I totally know this is a whole patience thing and I am down for it but I guess I am like if NOA is taking 8 days or something I wonder how long NOA2 will take and that wait will be total torture. HOw long did some of you guys get your NOA?

Becuase i see on some peoples timelines that they put the NOA date then a different date that NOA hard copy received. an then before that touched? please help me.. i am so confused

When you receive your NOA1, it will say "notice date" - that is your NOA1 date. But many people also mention in their timelines when the NOA1 comes in the mail, and this is the hard copy received date. That's what makes these two events different.

Touches are, for the most part, unrelated, but a "touch" basically means an update to your case status online.

I'm sorry, I guess I was a little vague. You don't receive an NOA1 that's not a hard copy. When you get your hard copy, your NOA1 date is printed on it, but there's really nothing that comes before that.

If you paid your filing fee by check and you use online banking, it's possible to determine your NOA1 date before the hard copy shows up.

When the check posts to your bank account, view the check image on the bank's website. On the back, among the endorsement stamps, you'll find your receipt number. As you're a VSC filer, yours will start with EAC followed by a string of ten digits. You can plug this number into the Case Status application on the USCIS website.

Improved USCIS Form G-325A (Biographic Information)

Form field input font changed to allow entry of dates in the specified format and to provide more space for addresses and employment history. This is the 6/12/09 version of the form; the current version is 8/8/11, but previous versions are accepted per the USCIS forms page.

sent i-129f package visa express mail on october 6th, they cashed the check on the 13th, and i received the hard copy of the NOA1 in the mail on the 16th. So about 10 days....a bit longer than a lot of the people here, but at least i now have it in hand..so be patient and yes the waiting game is torture, but at this point, the best thing we can do is hope and pray for a swift and smooth process....make sure u create an account and portfolio on www.uscis.gov so you can track your petition's progress (you'll need the receipt number printed on the NOA1 hardcopy)!....Good luck!
