I'm engaged to a mexican citizen, i am a u.s. citizen. we are expecting a baby in april. we filled out and gathered all our material for our fiance visa, but heard that the process is very long and very hard to get approved. i need him here as soon as possible and plan on marrying him in a few weeks in mexico. is there anything else that can be done? once we've married in mexico, he still won't be a resident, will he still only be allowed here for a 6 month permit???? i need help and am very stressed out, which is not good for our baby. please help!

If you file the fiance visa then get married, you forfeit the $455 and you'll have to reapply for a spousal visa. I suggest you wait until you are married and file the Cr-1.

once married, he can visit as long as he does not overstay. Marrying you does not do anything to his immigration status.

It's a long process, 4-8 months it seems. But approval is based on your case. If you have an easy, simple case then you have nothing to worry about

Good luic.

K-1 should be the fastest...if you marry him, you could either do the cr1 or k3, which take longer.

Forgot to add, it is not hard to get approved as long as you have all your paperwork in line and all the evidence, you should be ok. No biggie.

If he currently has a tourist visa, he can use that to come visit you while the rest of the paperwork is in process...just for 6 months.

Start by reading the guides. Unless he already has a visa, he's not going to be allowed in the USA for a visit. You'll need to wait out either a fiance or spouse visa process. If you marry in Mexico, take the CR1 route, not the K3.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
