for approvals

officially - 5 months . (from USCIS portal )

unofficially - 2 to 11 months

for a consulate case number -

anywhere from 1 to 9 months.

Is the Petitioner a USC? If not, expect a LONG wait.

my relative has filed a I-130 for his wife since July 10, 2009....... He has recieved his application reciept.. but no case number as of yet.. when can he expect to recieve his case number?

Thanks

What application receipt? was it the NOA-2 or the approval? Case Number will be given from NVC. These numbers that starts with WAC is the USCIS receipt number, you will be needing this one by the time you got an approval from USCIS and you will call NVC after a week approximately to ask for your case number.

Good luck!!

That is a receipt from USCIS stating they have received the case. the steps:

NOA 1 - received petition

NOA 2 - approved petition

NVC case number - NVC have received it, assigned a case number and will generate all the bills
