AOS Interview Today (Is this Normal)

Hi All,

We had our AOS interview today. Went really smooth & only lasted about 10 mins. At the end of the interview the officer said that our conditional Green Card is approved & we will get the Green Card in the mail in about two weeks.

A few quick questions.

#1. They never stamped anything in the passport. Is this normal?

#2. She never gave any sort of approval letter. Is this normal?

Again, she did say everything was fine & approved & we should expect the Green Card in two weeks.

Am I suppose to have any other proof or am I just worrying too much?

Thanks

I don't know the answer to question #2, but question #1 is: yes, this is normal. From my understanding it used to sometimes take several months to receive the actual green card in the mail, hence a stamp to hold you thruogh until then. Now cards arrive within a very short time, often just a matter of days, so I think they eliminated the stamp due to that. So no worries, it's very common.

Yes it's perfectly normal. They don't stamp passports unless there is some urgent need for proof - eg.you have an international plane flight booked for next week. The Welcome to America letter should be along shortly, followed soon after by the actual card.

I think the I-551 passport stamp is office/officer specific. I say this as I had my AOS interview last tuesday and I got the stamp, and no I didn't ask for it.

As for approval letters, the officer does not issue anything like that. I believe they are sent from a service center. All I got at my interview was the stamp and a form explaining the I-751 Removal of Conditions procedure.

The form was titled "Section 216 Requirement"

Anyway, I hope this helps.

you'll get an approval letter in the mail, then a Welcome to America letter ( or letters, I got 5  ) and then your card. :)

Not getting the stamp is not something to worry too much about. :)

Congratulations to you! :)
